Hello all - just received the "well duh should have ordered that before" order to go with the starter kit - 3 extra tanks, and a spare battery + charger.

2 of the tanks were blue, 1 red. when filling the red, i noticed it was a bit trickier than the others. From visual inspection, there's an extra piece of metal. It looks exactly like the tank on the website.

All of my other tanks (2 starter kit, and 2 blue from this order) don't have this piece - there's clear plastic a bit above the 2.4ml line, rather than the metal shown in the picture.

Did tank design change recently? or are all the others missing a piece? no leaking or other issues with the tanks. it is tougher to fill the red tank - the extra piece of metal makes the space arround the coil much smaller.

with the ring

and thanks, it's been fairly easy. although the signature should probably read "money spent on gadgets instead of analogs" - that "the triton is all i need" lasted a short period, today i've got vision spinner batteries and kanger tanks showing up...

i haven't tried to remove it - once i finish the juice in there i will. i didn't realize it was there until the tank was partially few.

i've recieved a few coils with 3 wicks as well. i'll email Halo and ask them what it does - unless there's a good reason for it, i'd rather remove. it cuts the space to fill down a lot, so even with the 7ml bottles, you have to go real slow. i'm almost dreading filling it from the eye dropper in the 30ml bottles

I have both variations.

The "un-ringed" one has tip threads that are pretty long, and the tip needs 3 1/2 turns to screw on. The "ringed" version, which appears to be newer, has a limited thread with a flange, and only 1/2 a turn is enough to screw the tip on.

I believe that the newer version was a design intended to address the issue with people screwing their tips on too tight, causing the mouthpiece to separate from its thread ring.

Halo still ships both models, so I'm not sure that this change is permanent, but the tips are interchangeable, even though one will leave a small gap, and neither will leak.

Agree, and I have both versions, as well. Yes, you gotta go slow refilling with the eye dropper.

There are 2 versions of the drip tips; If you look inside, one has 4 ribs of plastic that hold the threaded ring. The other better one is smooth. Hard to describe, but no ribs. I have only broken 1 with the ribs.

There's another version of the tank, it affect the bottom. On some, the threads inside are cut up to the level of the air ports. On others, the threads are cut further, about 2 or 3 threads more. So there's 2 bottoms and 2 tops. I have all 4 possible variation.

The bottom variation affects nothing in the Halo world. I remember reading somewhere about it affecting a non-Halo battery or ring.

But the bottom line is this. They are Triton tanks, and they work great.

We are Halon.

Wow, I've been using my new red tank for a few weeks and never noticed that extra metal bit at the top. My other two tanks I ordered 10 days before this one do not have the extra ring and require a couple more twists for the threads to tightened snug. I prefer the old style, as I never over tighten coils or tips.

Coincidentally enough, last week I had to run out of the house and threw 2 tanks and a battery into my pocket. I reached into my pocket while driving, and felt that one of the tips came off the tank. Guess which tank design it was? Yep, a FULL 2.4ml of Mystic totally emptied into my jeans pocket. Thirsty pants. :(
