Sorry, busy day today. Thanks to all responders.
I am using the Buzz 808, not an aftermarket.
I tried adjusting the cartos. No joy.
There is no O-ring on the outside.

Also, any responses to the issue with the 801 atty showing a short, ie red LED?

What is the 808 cart ? All of a sudden these things are not working on a unit that has not changed design in over 8 months so it is not the Buzz . The cart design for some reason is causing a air flow problem .

DO you have a 901 -808 adapter ? if so try that on it .

I assume you are using a 901-801 adapter on it when it shows a short ? if so you may just have a bad adapter or are over tightening it or ??

It is entirely possible that you just have a bad batch of cartos. I have been getting my Boge 510 cartos from the same place for at least 6 months and never had a problem...until this last box I'm working on. The threads are wonky, 3 out of the 5 in this last batch don't screw onto my Buzz right but they still work...except 1 that won't screw on to my Buzz at all, but will on my Infinity. I know there is nothing wrong with my Buzz, just a manufacturing defect on the cartos :(

OK on your top cap are there SLOTS in it ?? if not it is a 910 if so it is an 808.

IF it is an 808 is there a rubber o-ring on the outside of it ?? if so remove it , this is used on the 808 top cap to use a 901 atty ( plugs the slots and reduces air flow.

Talk to me !

Removing the O ring did the trick. I just wanted to be sure before I took it off, as it was a bit of a bugger to remove, and I didn't want to damage it. Works fine with the cool carts now.

Thanks. (sorry was in bed early last night)

Yes, the top cap has slots in it. So for me it was a simple thing... but to ask what might be a dumb question, why install the rubber O ring when someone orders an 808 native? Might be a good idea to put it in the little box with the screwdriver? If someone orders an 808 native instead of a 901, like me, it's likely they did that because they want to use 808 cartos but with the O ring it's set up for 901's, if I understand correctly.

So, not a problem with the Buzz or tolerances at all. Didn't mean to stress you out Buzz. Thanks for clearing it up for me. Others had suggested removing the O ring, but I had plenty of the WOW carts, there was no rush on my part. It looked like an O ring, but for all I knew it could have been the top of a rubber sleeve.

I was a more trusting type, I would have removed the O ring as soon as it was suggested here. All is fine on my end! And I LOVE this Buzz!

As a side note, yes, the V4L cartos have been pretty sloppy. I get some that won't screw all the way onto my 808 batts, but are fine on my V4L PT. Sometimes I screw a carto onto the PT, and that cleans the threads enough to then get it screwed all the way down on my 808's.

The threads on the V4L cartos obviously have a QC problem. I will bring it up in their forum. Having said that, this is a different issue and has nothing to do with the Buzz. So is the problem with having to lift the center post on some V4L cartos. Those are carto problems.

In my case, it was the O ring. Simple fix, but I think it might make more sense to leave the O ring off native 808 Buzz PV's and just put it in the little box with the screrwdriver.

I am also suspisiciouly eying the other stuff in that little box, wondering what they might be for! Tiny screws, a couple of grommets and two white felt looking "pads" and a litle set of tweezers. The screwdriver, I get that...LOL.

I am seeing A LOT of this lately , it is making us look bad ! we use accurate threads on our design and they are not fitting now ! WTH ????
Yeah its not with just one manufacturer either...... Ive seen it on at least 3 different brands lately.

Gonna send you a email about the tiny screwdriver you shorted me :p LMAO Have you drop one in my next order. Gotta have my 25 cent screwdriver :p BTW wife is loving her Buzz Mike. Really nice work on it.

I'm glad it's working for you now NoM :)

Like Hairball said...it's an eyeglasses repair kit that comes with the Buzz. I've teased Mike that he needs to toss in a magnifying glass for my old, tired eyes :p

Aww Ruppy you got ripped off!! I tell you, these suppliers these days! I'd raise holy hell until I got my $1 screwdriver kit

Mike went out of his way to get me my Buzz for that big party, and it worked just fine with my WOW cartos, got me through the big party event tobacco free and I want to extend another BIG thank you for that! Having my Buzz was BIG. HUGE even.

Now all the minor details are ironed out. My Buzz is working great with all of my 808 cartos. Buzz, you might want to consider offering 901 to 808 adapters down the road, just an idea. With the adapter I doubt I would have had to remove the O ring. Dopey customers like myself can make a suggestion, without knowing how it fits within your stocking system or biz plan, so I just throw it out there. Along the lines of offering more cartos for one stop shopping sort of idea.

Shipping is the big waster of money. I am the type to pay twice as much to one stop shop for something like an adapter for the sake of convenience and saving on shipping.

Thanks again for getting my Buzz out to me. It was a favor I shall not forget.

I even had to use a pair of pliers to put a carto on another mod because the threads had burrs on it. The threads are right. I think they're just not cut deep enough sometimes and other times have burrs on them. They need to give some attention to the machine that cuts those threads.

Interestly enough the recommendation at the V4L forum is to use an emery board or 400 grit sandpaper on the BATTERIES, not the cartos. Go figure. I think I'd rather do that sort of thing on the carto side.

I think that's because it would be hard if not impossible to get an emery board inside an 808 carto. The battery threads are exposed on the 808.

Ya DO NOT DO THAT on the Infinity or Buzz , It WILL void your warranty !!!!!

That is not a very good suggestion IMO .

I think a lot of these cartos threads and bases are molded , molding can be very inaccurate vs. machining.

I think they are too but which ever way the mold or that part of the process needs attention. It wasn't even a V4L carto that I was using so it's happening to others too. But I think all the carto housings begin at the same place.

OK I owe Ruppy a screwdriver kit ! wanna pay $5.95 to get it ??? Just kidding J/K !!

remind me on the next order and I will get one to ya Ruppy .
LOL really just messing with you :p Im gonna order some juice from you anyway to try it out. Ill add it to the notes if someone remembers its a bonus if not I wear glasses and have like 10 of those kits LMAO....... But then I can say I have the authentic Buzz screwdriver :p
This is just an indication of bad threads or flashing on the threads , Like I said I think they are molded and Flashing on a molded part is common.

I just hate to be taking the blame for bad parts from China again ! ( we used the SLB 510 connectors so that is OUR fault.)
I havent had a problem with the 901 threads but I almost always have my adapters on. I really wish I could find a 901->808 adapter that had the slot in the center post though.... Has anyone ever seen one?
