Ok, so apparently I was a member of this forum a while back but I completely forgot and tried to register again.

A few years ago, I started using the e-cig because I thought it was cool and interesting, but then I think I lost them and eventually went back to smoking real cigarettes. Then a while after that, I used e-cigs because I moved into a new place and my room mates did not approve of me smoking indoors. That winter was especially cold, so I got e-cigs so I didn't have to stand outside while smoking.

As for now, I have been slowly cutting down my use of regular cigarettes as it has really taken a toll on my health. I'm a pretty light smoker at this point (maybe 3-4 cigs a day, but WAY more if I'm drinking), but I need a little extra to really stop smoking. So basically, I am gonna try this e-cig thing again. I think I lost all the stuff I got from last time as well, or the batteries stopped working/got clogged, etc.

Basically, I need a recommendation on a new starter kit of some sort, and I need something that will last and not cost me too much to keep up with. Either style is good, I really don't know what they have out there and looking at the list of reviews and stuff just makes me dizzy since there's SO MUCH STUFF!! I guess I just need to know whats good/popular, and something fairly easy to clean and use, I don't mind a little bit of tinkering but I'm not going to tear apart my piece and mod it or anything.

Thanks for your help! :)

If i put my self in your shoes i would personally choose the Epower 18650 From myfreedomsmokes its a GREAT mod easy to use * not for people who like there e-cig to resemble a real cigg * 12+ hour battery life on a single charge slap a Lr drip atty or a lr dcc tank setup and you'll vape all day long never once thinking about nasty ciggies again ! :D

Good luck in your quest! :D

Lots of choices. Kgo and eGo-C/T seems popular. I have used both and I like the eGo-C better. It was easier to maintain. And if you dont like to use tank system, you can just throw some cartomizers on the battery and your good to go. I would recommand the Boge LR(2.0ohm) cartos but the choice is up to you. Well, good luck this time and stick with it. I know you can succeed.

I kind of went the same route. Trying ecigs for awhile, back to the smokes, and then trying ecigs again. The second time they worked for me and haven't smoked since 2010. What did it for me was a combo of a juice I really liked (Vapor 4 Life WOW coffee - 18mg), cartomizers (boge low resistance) and Ego batteries.

Juice I liked, low maintenance atomizer solution (cartomizer) and long lasting batteries. Yeah. That's the ticket.

The most recommended here on ECF seems to be the eGo/Riva/etc. kits. Liberty Flights has good prices on these kits - Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510, here's the Riva. Be sure to click on the "20% Discount" at the top left corner of the page. With your level of smoking, one of these batteries should last you all day.

At the bottom of the main forum page is a list of ECF registered vendors, you could check out some of them also.

Happy Vaping!

Thanks all, I will check out your recommendations. All of these websites still make my head spin, with all the parts and numbers and stuff! I'm looking for a kit that costs around $60 or less, I will spend slightly more if its worth it but don't wanna get close to the $100 range. I am not looking to buy lots of replacement parts over time, and all these cartomizers and atomizers confuse me. Do I need to buy a bunch of these to replace or just clean it or use one for a long time? A kit with 2 batteries/cig thingies would be nice... the rest just confuses me.

So all I really NEED in a kit includes:
-batteries
-atomizer/cartomizer/tip/mouthpiece thingy?
-charger and liquids

Is there something I'm missing? The Riva has a good price, whats the difference between those and the eGo ones? Is the eGo a lot better?

What is this tank system? I don't believe that was around back when I last tried. Does it mean I don't have to constantly drip on the atomizer or something?

Look for the Ego T. There is a tank that snaps onto an atomizer. Not bad but didn't do it for me. I'm still on the cartomizers. A lot of people complain about tanks leaking too.

I'm looking at the Joye eGo-C kit, whats all this extra stuff?? Looks confusing. There's an atomizer body that has a cone + base (never heard of this stuff before), plus an atomizer head AND cartridges? Do I put the cartridge in the atomizer body? What's this cone and base?

I guess I'm leaning towards the Riva because of the price, can I expect this to last me a while or do I need to replace stuff a lot? And I guess the 510 is just a bigger battery than the 901 (or vice versa)?

I suggest you get a nice, basic starter kit. If you really want a suggestion, I love the Volcano brand. However, there are plenty of other products out there that are absolutely just as good (I just feel loyal because that's where I started, and it's honestly a solid product). As for how to get your nicotine, I recommend refilling with bottles of juice all the way. It's cheaper this way, and easier to customize. To start out, for your delivery system, I recommend some sort of cartomizer or clearomizer. It's just a really simple set up. Easy to use, not much of a learning curve.

You can get the separate automizer and cartridge, but more pieces do complicate things. There are many manufacturers now making two piece designs. Battery and cartomizer/clearomizer. Basically the atty is houses in the same piece as the juice. Very simple, works well. And in my experience, they will last you many refills. You buy the juice separately to refill, but it's definitely not hard. Takes like 5 minutes at the most. If you're going to get the separate atty, cartridge set up, most brands, the cart fits right on the atty. I'm not sure what all this business about a cone and base is. Maybe another member who's more familiar with that brand can chime in. I'm sorry, I don't know about Riva. You might find something in the reviews here; if not just Google it.

Ok so let me get this straight. How is using the cartos different from using the atomizer + blank carts? The cone is just a cover for the cart/atomizer?

Yes, the cone is just a cover to hide the threading/connection.

Cartomizers are one piece combos that have filler in them with an atomizer at the center. The cartridge + atomizer setup is two seperate pieces. I never cared for cartridges. Way too much hassle for me. I like the convenience of cartomizers. Just pop off the white cap, drip the juice down the sides until full and put the cap back on. Or toss the white cap and use a drip tip. Makes refilling much easier.

Not so confusing....pic's worth a thousand words? Ego-C Tank assembly in first pic. Second pic you have from left to right the battery, heating element retainer, replaceable (relatively inexpensive) heating element, cone and tank.

Shown is a VEC instead of Ego battery but fundamentally same dealio.

It's a good PV and the price isn't bad considering what it comes with. Attys and cartos are disposable parts so you will need to keep extras on hand. Be aware that they can/do have switch issues though. I bought one from them and it was DOA but Andrew sent me a new switch and spring and it's worked almost flawlessly since. Mine does have the issue where it won't work when it's really cold. I just need to hold it by the switch part in my hand for a minute or two to warm it up. It's only been an issue after sitting by an open window in near freezing temperatures though. Andrew is a stand up guy and will work with you if you have any issues. He even called me on a Saturday to try and work out the problem I was having with my E-Power when I first got it.

Welcome to Maximum Vapors - E Cig Supplier has very good prices on 5v box mods. They run off two 14500 batteries which are cheap. You would need to buy batteries, a charger, attys/cartos, liquid and a tip to go along with one though. I got a 5v box mod from him for $15 shipped and it's good for the price. The only difference between his and the ones from Mad Vapes are that he didn't slather hot glue all over the insides (which I like, but it sucks if you have to replace a part). His also have a sort of drip cup around the connection which I like. The one I got does not have an LED on it like it states in the description. That's fine with me because I don't like my e-cigs lighting up when I use them.

Same here - why would anyone still want to use carts w/ atomizers? There's few things as horrible as the taste of burning cartridge filler...yeeccch! Cartomizers are the way to go. I have two 1000mah egos that I bought last Feb. and I've been using them exclusively since, with cartomizers....simple and hassle-free.
(I've yet to find a suitable large size carto that works as well as the LR reg cartos that I use)
