I at first got her to get a bottle of play hers at 18mg and I guess the house ratio of 70/30 pg/vg. Way too harsh for her and she complained of headaches. So I mixed her up some watermelon, which she really likes, at 30/70 and 12mg. It's much easier for her to handle, but still some burning, and some headaches. She was a half a pack a day smoker. Is she allergic to pg, or do I need to go really low on nic?

Yep - back off the nic a bit for her and see how she reacts. PG allergies typically show up as sore throat, irritated lungs, cough. PG does contribute to throat hit as well, so it's to be expected that the higher VG juice she tried would be easier to take (and not indicative of an allergy). Backing off the nic and keeping the VG to a decent level would result in a smoother vape and the lower nic should have a positive effect on her headaches (nicotine is a vasoconstrictor and can cause head pain).

Thanks, yeah, trying to figure it out why she has such a problem. I had to start at 32mg, so it's hard for me to consider 8 or 6 working.... but I guess it will. Already confirmed 12 is too high. She still complains about the throat hit at 12mg 30/70 with her spinner at 3.3v... so I'm thinking I'll try the lowest I can mix at, 20/80. If that doesn't work, I'll have to buy vg only nic base ect, arg.....

Follow the nic path first - see if she can get to an acceptable TH. Smoking is not one thing, it's different for different people, and vaping most certainly differs between individuals. The cool thing is you'll get there. Stick with it.

Sounds like you have DIY materials. Let her try 0 nic (don't tell her, so she doesn't carry a bias into the "testing") to see if it's a PG/VG thing. If she's okay with that, dial in some nic until she's not happy again. If she can't vape the 0 nic, then you know it's possibly PG (although it might be the tank and/or air flow - again, different strokes for different folks).

It's expensive for me to keep sending, but I have to ship a laptop I just fixed for her soon, so I'm going to try the 8mg mix right away. Didn't think even 12 would be too much for her. Glad I can mix, because the place she bought from, like most in Canada, don't have a lot of custom options. I think 70/30 is a bad idea to begin with, that much pg bothers even me. 50/50 is a good starting point, if they don't go cheap on the flavor ratio, which they usually do.....

Also remember that some fruity flavors (and a few tobacco ones) can cause headaches. I suggested to my father-in-law to try vaping instead of smoking, and he got a tank with some melon juice. Said it gave him headaches. I thought maybe it was because of nic or just acclaimating etc., but then I tried it. First hit off of that juice gave me a pounding headache, and this was back when I was daily vaping 24mg (down to 12 now). I think some of the flavor additives can be problematic as well.

We all have an opinion, don't we? :). Anything to help someone get off analogs! I was a pack a day, ultra lights. Started with 6mg, 50/50. Even that gave me a sort of sick headache (versus the pounding, please give me a bottle of Advil sort of headache). Two changes were remarkably helpful: first, I mixed 6mg and 0mg; second, I tried to vape on a schedule equivalent to that on which I smoked. Problem solved! Sending positive thoughts your way, in hopes that sis is successful :toast:

I smoke Marlboro reds and Dunhill reds, and I still get a really strong throat hit from 16-18mg nicotine. Also, you have to note that you tend to vape more than you smoke because of the convenience of it, so I'll get lightheaded and often get nausea or headaches. I suggest going to 6mg, if you're a chain vaper, that's mellow enough to be comfortable on the throat, and won't give you those mild nicotine poisoning.
