I purchased an aspire premium kit (nautilus mini with battery) I have not left the marlboro reds due to not getting a satisfying mouth feel or full flavor from the aspire in comparison to the reds. I am currently using 18 of nicotine but I feel the need to go back to the reds for satisfaction. Do not know if it is enough nicotine, I do get a throat hit, no head rush, but the mouth full of smoke/fullness is lacking. I do not know if what I refer to as smoke is supplemented by extra vapor.

I understand that I also have to have discipline on my part but I am trying to make the transition as easy as possible.

I also thought about purchasing an original kayfun lite plus v2, I do not know if it would help.

Would a hotter vape help?

Also is there a juice any former red smoker would recommend?

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome!

I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions of tweaks and things to try, but keep in mind: vaping isn't smoking. It won't be exactly the same. The nicotine is absorbed differently and the head rush from smoking is largely carbon monoxide in your bloodstream.

ETA: (I was looking for a link)

I don't vape tobacco flavors, but I have heard that the River Bottom Fog Sauce line is a good transitional vape from Reds.

River Bottom Fog Sauce

Another thing to try is WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloids). It is an e-liquid that contains tobacco alkaloids usually filtered out when distilling the nicotine. Some people crave more than just nicotine. Aroma sells flavors, but they also sell unflavored that you can add to whatever other juice you're vaping. The unflavored is strong. Trust me.

What flavor are you using? try a fruit or dessert out, my belief is to create a new habit out of this and try things that i like better than a analog but don't remind of it, the whole point of this is to quit smoking, so IMO i stay away from certain thing that remind me of a analog or it might just lead you to go smoke.

Have you tried a different pg/vg ratio? if you want more vapor try a higher VG juice, it is going to diminish flavor and throat hit slightly but it might be what you need

How much did you smoke a day? if you smoked a pack and a half to two packs you might need to bump up your nic level

If you do take the step to a kayfun please use and ohm reader and learn about battery safety if you want to take that step please watch this 2 part video on battery amps and air flow on youtube by M.C. Vapes

Hope this helped i've been vaping for awhile but haven't participated much on this fourm

I am also a new vape user (within 6 mos) - and using an Aspire Nautilus on an iJust. I smoked full flavor American Spirits. I found that the sweet juices didn't quite do it for me. And the tobacco flavors for the most part were too chemically flavored. Try something nutty if you can find it. I also had to change the way I inhaled to get a satisfying vape hit. As a smoker I pulled into my mouth first, then inhaled, with vaping I am more satisfied by inhaling as I pull for a deeper lung hit, and I use the largest air hole on the tank. I get a pretty good cloud this way on my Nautilus, but only half what the cloudchasers are getting with their nifty set-ups. It works for me though. I started with 24mg 5 months ago and am down to 6mg and feel fully satisfied with vape. It took me a couple of months to figure out my current preferences. Congrats on starting the change... keep trying flavors and experimenting with the way you vape.

I am a one to one and a half a pack smoker. All of the juices that I own are 50/50 I seem to be ok with the mix. I have to agree with Timelordsavant as to how I currently feel about juices, I do not enjoy sweet juices and the tobacco ones tastes like like some sort of chemical concoction. TLS do you have any nutty juice recommendations? I am not familiar with all these juice companies, but would like to at least stay with American made products.

I am also going to try 24 mg of nicotine before I try the next step like Ocelot explained.

I also want to find a juice that will go well when I drink and smoke more so I won't get the urge to smoke and rather vape.

I understand it is very subjective, but it seems complicated and new. I really appreciate all responses to help me on my journey.

I just buy local made from the local vape shop up here in Santa Rosa. I haven't really bought online when it comes to juices. I see you are SoCal. Any tasting rooms close by where you can sit down and try some nutty flavors? I started with one that was like a cherry peanut that reminded me of a Swisher - but they stopped making it. That's the problem with local shops is they are only going to make what sells - and the fruity or desserty stuff seems to be most popular. I am going to be upset if they stop making my current favorite vape, Americium. It is made by Digital Ciggz.

I have tried coffee flavors which are ok - tried a chai flavor that is spicy and I feel it in my mouth with the hint of cinnamon and clove, but it still wasn't quite what I was looking for. I was looking at flavors on advertised sites on here... I thought this one looked interesting - and was thinking of ordering it to try. It is on the apolloecigs .com site and the liquid is called Triple Nickel .... but I haven't tried it yet. (I can't post links yet or I would just link it.)

Seems juice shopping is very hit and miss when looking for nutty flavors. There aren't a lot of them out there. Eclipse by SpaceJam is ok - but still a bit sweeter than I was looking for. I was thinking of trying their Venus flavor since it says peanut butter. They are a SoCal manufacturer that my local shop carries. You may be able to find them locally as well.

That's about all I have... happy hunting!

Have you tried doing a lung hit. That helped me get more a throat hit and also seemed more effective for the nictone hit. I use the MVP 2.0 with 100%VG juice. It took 2 weeks before I found the right method for me personally. I started off with 14mg juice and moved down to 6mg. Funny thing is I get more of a throat hit and nictone hit with the lower juice, which is probably because I've learned how to inhale the juice. It's just not the same as analogs, I'm not looking for huge clouds either. So, what I do it hold the vapor in for a while, almost to the point where the is no vapor left to exhale and when I inhale I leave a slight gap at the side of my mouth and inhale straight into my lungs as though as I was breathing in through my mouth. The throat hit is stronger on the exhale and effects are faster. I guess everyone has their own methods, you'll find what works for you. Don't be discouraged and good luck!

Smoking for 50 years. Have been off the analogs (ciggies) for three months. Saved around NZ$1650.00 using the Aspire Premium Kit. and VTR Mods. Neither are as satisfying as a cigarette but are saving me a stack of cash and keeping me sane...

My health has certainly improved. No longer out of breath. I'm sure I was a candidate for a respiratory disease.

Eventually Vaping becomes more satisfying. I will vape for the rest of my days, rather than pick up another cigarette!

Keep Up The Good Work.

Thanks, for all of the advice! I am just so new to vaping.... and as some of you former and current smokers know, it is hard to supplement the damn analog, but I will win.

welcome to the ECF. attitude is everything in the quest to quit. you have to want it,its not easy, but so well worth the effort.
best of luck .:D

Welcome Mkid,
I would have to say 90% of smoking is psychological and 10% addiction ( nicotine ) .Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins. These cigarette ingredients include nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, as well as formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT. Vaping has 4 non carcinogenic compounds, for me wheezing myself to sleep was getting scary to say the least.
It's going to cost you some up front money to start but how much did you spend a month on ciggs ? Your flavor choices might change in time as you ween off ciggs and get your senses ( taste ) back
For me it wasn't till I started getting into rebuildable atomizers and being able to get big lung hits instead of mouth to lung like ciggs..
My suggestion would be to try the Aspire Atlantis Sub-Ohm Tank with a DNA 30 and maybe try finding some good naturally extracted tobacco e juice.
Live long and vape on

My suggestion as a 40+ year reds smoker now 6+ months cig free, go to a vape shop. Try their juices until you find something that is OK. Then continue your juice search even if you have to go to multiple shops. Search until you find at least a couple flavors you like. And by that, I mean something that you want another pull because you like the flavor, not because you need a nicotine hit. Get to that point you want a vape because you like it rather then a substitute for smoking.

Once you get to that point, then you can start looking at gear upgrades and expand your juice search. I just now expanded mine with my first on line order as I expect to always, forever and ever, keep looking for an even better flavor.

Welcome and hang in there. Good things are just over the next hill. :vapor:

Hi, I'm 2 weeks full time vaping no smoking after 26 yrs smoking. In two weeks I didn't have decent juice (no vape shops only online so can't try things) I have had some foul stuff but vaped I for the Nic cravings and kept ordering! I still don't know what I really like but I'm gunna keep hunting it until I find it! Now I shop at highly recommended juice sellers from this forum mostly in uSA (long wait to Australia for arrival) but I'm determined to not touch another cigarette again. I stopped smoking before any major health issues so I want to make sure I live a long life.

What part of Cali are you in? San Diego has a big vape scene going on. It's picking up in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area. If you can go in a shop and test juices you'll find it's easier if you have more than one flavor of juice to vape on. I tried to quit with an ego/kanger tank setup, it wasn't until I got my VTR that I was able to get the hit and volume of vape to feel like I was smoking.

started with red.. then ended up with ultra light, silver. tried cig a like. didn't satisfy me at all. but knew it will work. searched and read ton, decided on mech mod and RDA. enough vapor volume to meet my need at 6mg of nic. i heard regulated mods will do same, but read too many story about chip issues. mech mod, there really isn't much that can go wrong as long as you know the battery safety, and ohm's law.. and how to build coil. all pretty simple.

What he's trying to say is going from a clearomizer like the mini to a bigger adjustable airflow and sub-ohm coils like atlantis or kanger sub ohm is a game changer, I like how this poster puts it.

I'm sure this has been talked about on here before, but please be aware of what nicotine level juice you are using when using these new sub-ohm tanks like the Aspire Atlantis and the Kanger SubTank. Filled it up with my normal e-juice that I used in my Aspire Nautilus which was 12mg/ml nicotine level. I was fine for the first few hits, but I like to chain vape. I was loving the big cloud and insanely better taste I was getting. After about 5-6 big, deep lung hits, I started to get pretty noxious. Put my vape down for a few hours and then went to the local vape shop and picked up a 6mg/ml e-juice and that seemed to work a bit better, but I still get a little dizzy when using it. I can handle it until my 3mg/ml e-juice I ordered online comes in. And of course, make sure whatever device you're using can handle the sub-ohm levels.

I know there are going to be some people out there that will be like "Oh I can handle it!". Trust me.... I was the same way and now know that I can't. Please vape safe everyone!
