Lookin for osme ideas for tube mod switches, appropriate amperage, etc. Need something low profile that'll fit in a 1/2 inch tube (14500 tube mod). Been digging through multiple sites, just figured I'd ask and see what other people are using or if any of the more experienced modders have a 'fav' out there.

For 1/2" tube its a pretty limited selection if mounting the switch inside the tube . Most of the time you will have to go with a touch switch , tact switch with mosfet or mechanical . Their are no 3a+ switches that are really small .Smallest in depth will enough amp rating will probably be the horn switch madvapes sells or radioshack switch . You can gain a little more space by bending the pins outward

No warranty on eGo circuit board

Parameters:

*Power Supply
3.7v, 280mAh li-ion battery (4.2v fully charged)

*Working Parameters
Static current: less than 5uA, 2 uA typical
Working current: less than 1.1A (when Heating coil Resistance is 3ohm)
Maximum allowed working current: 2.2A
Voltage to trigger charging: 3.2V
Voltage to stop charging: 4.2V

*Power Saving Mode
LED flashes for 5 times(250ms on/250ms off), totally 2.5s, then it goes to power-saving mode.

That's a good idea cassie. Shame, but I haven't seem the Riva boards on sale. No PWM, right?

A lot easier to do that this (3/4 inch tuve for an 18650)

What is the mosfet (chip) and the switch in the (3/4 inch tuve for an 18650). It looks really simple, plus I noticed it is rated at 5 amps.

yeah, seem to be a number of decent options for the 3/4 inch tubes, 1/2 is proving to be more complicated.. I gotta find a suitable switch though, i'd really rather not use a riva/ego board. I hear a lot about rivas/ego boards burning up and I don't want all those other 'features' like draw duration, etc. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys, if I find osmething good I'll post it.

ck_dimens.gifThis 3 amp C&K will fit (8552MZQE2)
Just tried it in a 1/2" copper tube. You will have to bend back the solder tabs and the threaded bushing must completely stick out of the tube.
Digi-Key - CKN10193-ND (Manufacturer - 8552MZQE2)

The thread length is 6.35mm and a little more than half will protrude due the the inside curve of the tube. Approximately 3.5mm will protrude of the threaded bushing. The nut will cover a couple of threads. This is without the plunger length. The plunger is 3.81mm.
