You will get different reviews from everyone because everyone likes different. You will probably have to try different ones for yourself until you know what you personally prefer. Also the juice flavor you enjoy most may do better in one thing than the other so there are alot of factors. I'm so glad you got your Ecig. Alot of things are out of stock now because of the Chinese New Year but will be in stock soon. I use Vivi Novas always. But have fun trying different things and see what you prefer 
As far as differences, to me the cartomizers mute my flavor because the juice gets sort of filtered through the filler. But others love them. That's the main thing I notice about the differences.
Where tanks are concerned, there are simply a juice reservoir for a delivery device that has a heating coil to vaporize said juice. These devices use one of two types of delivery, or wicking, of the juice. Clearo-tanks use silica strings to wick juice to the heating coil; this includes clearomizers and vivi nova-style tanks.
Cartomizers use polyfiber which absorbs the e-liquid, and this filler material totally surrounds the heating coil. A cartotank uses a cartomizer with holes punched in the side to allow juice to flow from the tank to the inside of the cartomizer.

My experience is string wicked devices mute many flavors and are very inconsistant. They are position dependent, meaning you must frequently turn the delivery device on its side or tilt it to allow the wicks to stay wet, or else you will get dry hits or harsh vapor.
I'm a fan of cartotanks. Better, consistant flavor. Not position dependent.

it's opposite for. i get better taste with a carto/tank. clearo's are ok for trying new juices. ( Tests )
no accidental burn taste with a carto like in a clearo.
i can toke the carto from any angle and never get a dry hit.
Newbie here. I have both, and found that I like the taste better with the cartomizer; however, I don't get as much vapor. I am using a Tesla, and vaping about 7.5 watts on both tanks. How do I get more vapor with the carto and what in the world am I doing wrong?
Not familiar with the Tesla. Is that a mechanical mod or a variable voltage mod? What ohm cartomizer are you using?
I am not really sure (really a newbie to the tech stuff), it is a variable wattage APV like the Vamo. It does variable voltage as well. Both are 1.8 ohm cartomizers. When vaping at 7.5 watts, it roughly translates to 3.6 to 3.7 volts.
Is there a difference in longevity or rebuildability with the various systems available?
I vote for cartos when I want good vapor production and flavor for chain vaping, clearos when I just wanna fill and go, and RBAs for tinkering. I seem to get great hits either way. But that's just me.
As Baditude has given you a definitive lay out on things, I offer you my thoughts.
Clearomizers are great. They set up quickly and without much fuss. If you are willing to invest a bit of time in learning how to properly prime/fill a cartomizer, a cartomizer/tank (cartotank) combo will afford you a much better vaping experience with regard to flavor and pull/draw. Personally, I prefer the cartotank juice delivery system over the clearomizer juice delivery system. That is based solely on my own experience, as I have tried many clearomizers devices including the new Kanger protank clearo, as well.
As you will receive many different opinions and rightfully so, I would highly suggest that you try both for yourself and decide for yourself. People here are quite helpful and want you to have the best vaping experience possible.

Another noob here with a Tesla try lower voltage at 1.8 ohms try 3.0 to3.3 volts .ialso have vivi tanks with 2.8 ohms at 3.7 volts is what i like for them after i took the clear silicone gasket out and removed the center piece of metal out and replaced gasket on atty hope this helps.
I vote carto tanks.... Cheap and disposable.... Haven't had issues or bad tastes/dry hits since I gave up clearos....
Result! The Tesla does vape better on a lower voltage with a 1.8 ohm carto. Thank you.
Try one of each and decide for yourself. There is no other way; they are all fine, they all work, they all have problems. Whatever works for you is the best PV in the world.
They are not very expensive; a T3 or a mini ViVi Nova costs about as much as a pack of cigarettes--and lasts much longer.

I'm finding that I enjoy cartos over clearos, myself. Same reasoning as most. I hate having to constantly make sure wicks stay wet
