Sorry but I am very weak at searching for threads but I know these exist:

Where to place the leads on my multi-meter to test
1) atty resistance
2) battery voltage

Thanks, and it's day 10 analog free so far I have saved -360.00 yikes! :vapor:

1) place one lead on the center hole of the atty and the other on the threads. If it is a cheap MM then you need to factor in lead resistance for true resistance of atty.

2) Not sure what batts you are testing but I assume it is a manual batt like 510 or eGo. One lead on center post one on outside of cylinder. Be careful if it is a eGo type batt and you create a short during the test y9ou can kill the board. Also this is not a true test of the batt since it will not be giving a reading under load.

Thanks, it's a higher end Fluke meter so no prob there. On the attys I guess I need to make a small tip to go from center hole to threads and the threads without reading directly across the brass of the thread body? As for the batteries thanks for the heads up. When one of my atty's die I will use it to create a load, how many ohms of res would you recco?

You are correct Fluke will give you a good reading! No need to make tip. Touch center hole with one lead and threads with other. They are isolated by internal o-ring. Normal resistance of standard atty should be fine around 2.1 ohms.

Standard Res atty at 2.1 ohms, when would you pitch it?
Same ? for my LR attys, (not worried about my batteries just yet) Running ego batts and have a few 650 mAh and some 900's too

I pitch them when they burn out leaving an open circuit. LR atty's should ohm out around 1.5 - 1.7. Again I trash them when they do not produce anymore. Have saved a few attys that have had coil breaks by doing a coil pinch though. If you look close at a failed atty the coil sometimes fractures. I believe this is caused by repeated thermal shock. It is easy to see and do on a 306. Needle nose tweezers and a light squeeze and they will fire again as long as the break is in the body of the coil. You need to check resistance though since you can lower it with this method.
