Anyone else using this monster of an RTA? Once I figured out how to build on this thing, this is by leaps and bounds my favorite RTA. I'm running a dual 28 gauge (10 wraps each) which comes out to .7ohms, and with very little cotton (just enough to keep it from flooding) and this thing chain vapes all day at 40W with no hint of a dry hit. This is the closest thing I've experienced to an RDA in tank form. It has almost as much airflow as you could want, and wide open it's almost free flowing enough to just breath through it, which is helpful for higher wattage and plenty of vapor. Even wide open, the flavor is incredible. It beats all of my other tanks in almost every aspect. Easy, tool free top fill, all of the airflow you could want, a decently easy to build on deck, a good amount of juice capacity and it looks pretty awesome too. So far, no leaking, even laying on the side, and no other issues that I can speak of. It did come with a lot of machine oil that took 2 washings and 3 or 4 tanks to rid of the oil flavor, but now that it's broken in, it's almost perfect. I'm in vape heaven right now.

If you haven't given it a try, pick one up. Less than $30 where I got it (MVS).

What is the inside diameter of the coils youre using? I just got my zephyrus and i have only had one try at building the rba section and the 3mm id coils i used were just too big. Couldnt get the chimney screwed down.. Even with the coils virtually pressed against the block.

And did you fill the channels with wick or let it sit on the deck above the channels like a kayfun build?

It is a tight build, for sure. I use a 2mm screw driver, for a faster ramp up, and for the fact that anything larger would use too much cotton. I cut the wick ends on a diagonal, fluff the wicks, wet them, and just barely let the tips sit in the channels. Loose enough that they don't offer resistance when you screw down the chimney. Build it so that flooding is in the back of your mind because you think you used too little. I'll try to remember to get pictures next time I build it, probably later today.

Thanks for the post! Out of curiosity, what other RTA's have you used? It always helps us to know which RTA's you have used in comparison.

I've used a Lemo, Lemo 2, Subtank Mini, Goblin, Russian 91, a few kayfuns and a few others that the name escapes me. Not a ton of experience, but a lot of the more popular modern ones.

Glad you like your Zephyrus! Come join the main thread over in the 'Clearomizer' section.

Will do! I always forget that some of my favorite tanks started life as clearos with optional rba sections.

I just opened up my current build. Too lazy to be bothered with rebuilding right now, since it's still working well. You can see that the wicks are cut quite thin on the ends. Just enough cotton so that when it expands it prevents flooding, but not enough to block air from easily getting past, so it can still wick efficiently without air in the tank holding back the juice. I cut it just long enough to barely touch the bottom of the channels, and they don't really even have to go that far down. This is for sure one of those atomizers where less is more where cotton is concerned. The cotton is so thin and fluffed, it almost looks like gel when saturated, as you can see in the pictures.

When I do finally built it again, I'll get pictures of the wicking process just to make it a bit more clear if anyone needs help getting this thing working right. It's worked flawless for me so far. Only time it hints at dry hitting is when I get up around 40W or above. My comfortable level, and preferred level is around 32-34W (again, on a 10 wrap on 2mm, 28 gauge dual setup ~0.6ohms). Just warm enough, but I'm not blowing through my battery and juice quite as fast as 40W.

Just a quick little pictorial of wicking the Zephyrus.

Bare coils. Look at those huge juice channels:

Wicks in place, loose and lightly feathered:

Cut down to rough shape. Still requires some trimming, but I do that after I juice them up a little. Makes shaping easier:

Juiced and further trimmed to shape and fluffed a bit more with my screw driver tip, then gently pushed into the channels:

All closed up and ready to vape:

that helps quite a bit..

I rebuilt the rta section again last night using 28g on a 2.4mm screwdriver tip. It's one heck of a tight fit! I really wanted to aim for a higher resistance, ended up with .9 which isn't too bad, seems to be sucking down the juice a little bit slower. After a good set overnight and some breaking in and playing around with the wicks this morning it's working like a charm. The flavor is really starting to come out. I closed off the airflow and played with the watts for a while and now it seems to be acting pretty champly.

Taking the tiniest bit more off the ends of my wicks did a heck of a lot..

Last night I rebuilt and wicked it trying to do what I've done with my kayfun which is just letting the wick sit on the deck above the juice channels, and it leaked like a sieve all over my ipvmini2. Lesson learned.

I can fit 2.5mm with 28 gauge. IMO this deck is for small gauge claptons and multi-strand coils to take advantage of the air flow.

As for wicking, wick it like the goblin, just touching the top of the juice channels. Do not attempt any cotton down them or you will have issues with high vg liquids.

I got a question for everyone who is having success with the rta is it normal to only have bubbles coming out of one of the four juice channels? I'm not getting any dry hits but I do get muted flavor. I used a lot less cotton than the pictures above. I have the same about stuffed in but my tails are no where near as long. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
