Uh oh... batteries dropping like flies :(

So, I have a couple of gun-metal batteries, and all of a sudden, the LED will light up on one of them when charging, but nothing happens when I press the button. I think there's something wrong with the switch. And now my other one, and one that I got for my boyfriend (both gun-metal) are both developing a case of the finicky button - you have to press it at just the right spot, and sometimes really hard, for it to activate. Is this a common problem with these? I haven't had any problems like this with any of my other ones, hard button or soft button. Just the gun metal.

I don't know if it's common, but I've got a gun-metal plat XL with the same problem. It was a replacement for a defective black button XL, so I didn't bother to send it back. It's been that way from the beginning, but it's no longer under warranty. Really, really finicky on the switch, and difficult to use. It's my batt of last resort.

All three of my latest round of batteries failed electrochemically after a bit less than three months, almost simultaneously. I'm back on my year-plus old batteries which still work fine, but were just looking a little ratty.

Hmmm. Very interesting. I too just had a brand-new gunmetal XL die on me (specifically, the BUTTON). All the rest of my beyootiful collection of batts are behaving just fine.

So, what's the deal with gunmetal? Wader? Steve? Anyone?

I'm glad it's not just me, haha. My boyfriend ordered gun metal batteries because he loved the way mine looked (and he thought it was the most masculine). And now they're all finicky. I hope someone from the inside offers some insights soon.

Don't worry too much Ethereal, I haven't had any issues out of mine so far. It's in heavy rotation with my other two xl's (chrome and purple)...

I have literally a dozen dead XL batteries in almost every color. The greatest failure rate is on chrome or gunmetal. I haven't had the first black battery die and that all I buy now

I had the same problem with my silver (gunmetal?) battery. Yesterday it started to malfunction. If I don't hit the button exactly right, with a strong push to the left, it won't work.
