I don't use cartos but I would imagine they would last longer because they also hold a lot of liquid, and that combined with the RES will hold quite a lot of liquid.
I don't use cartos...........they mute the flavor of my juice. I like the RES with an atty, because you get the same flavor that you would in dripping.
As far as how long each one lasts..........I don't know because I haven't tried a carto. Maybe someone else will chime in here.

I haven't tried with a carto, yet, but I would think it would work pretty well. Will probably extend the life of your carto in much the same way carto tank mods do (since the carto stays wetter for longer). I have been thinking about trying this since an XL carto plus the RES is probably enough to get me through my workday and commute without needing to carry any extras
I prefer an atty. But, during work or long trips, a dual coil carto works great.
