Maybe I'm pushing her to fast. I'll swap out her coil in a bit. Why would a new battery give off a burnt taste? I've been using it for awhile so it's not a fresh charge.

Not sure why, but I'm getting a burnt taste with Varionica. She's about a quarter past 3.8 but I wanna crank her up to 4.0. Maybe it's time to change coils.

What OHMs do you have in it? Depending on juice/ohms, it may not "take" going higher volts or could produce a burnt taste.

And sometimes a brand new coil has a bit of factory residue on it. I now do a quick hot bath/coil rinse/24 hour dry on all my new coils.

Edit-sry didn't see "time to change coils" so that tells me it's not new...ya, maybe due for a cleaning/changing. You might have a burnt spot in the coil
