i skipped school like crazy when i was a young lad. what made it worse was that my mother was a very high ranking official in the State Education System.

My only saving grace was that i could skip school, never study, and sleep walk through any tests and still score an 'A'. justified my position that the school system wasn't for me.

then came college, and college gurls.....i stayed for that.

not sure why i enlisted tho, must have been an alcohol induced dare.

Ooohhh! What branch of the military???? I had no idea and nothing like a man in a uniform, smothered in bacon and pudding.

Hey, gang.
So glad the snow decided to stay south. The trip went well,, we got good reviews, despite the lead singer getting sick and excusing herself a few times to, erm, ahh, and returned back and nailed it.

Decided to follow the sound guy back home. I've looked at google maps and I have no clue where he went. I switched the language of the Garmin to spanish, cause if I heard her say the word "recalculating" one more time, I was gonna hurf. Ah, the mountains and reservoirs of New York. The police must be on vacation, I only saw about 20. Start of the month, I'll guess.

Now I have 4 tanks to clean, 2 guitars to restring and clean, and 4 cords that need work. Glad I got a new multimeter.

And final note, one drop of Tiki on your shirt will make your entire cubicle reek of Tiki!!

It might be time for somebody to sit down and have a real talk about why he doesn't want to go. People would have said the same thing about me. The truth was that I was socially awkward because we moved a lot until I was about eight. So, I didn't get a lot of time to make friends. It didn't help that I spent a lot of that time being the only kid in my neighborhood or that my half-brother was gone more than he was ever home.

Add in the fact that my parents always had a rocky relationship, my dad battled injuries and PTSD (unheard of at the time) for years, and a number of other issues. I really didn't get it all back then. I just knew that I always felt stressed out and school made it worse. The only time I wasn't stressed out was when I was in my bedroom listening to music and reading magazines or books. That lead to a lot of acting out and skipping school was part of it. It was something I could control and gave me a chance to explore the world on my terms without all the stress and anxiety.

Before you write him off somebody needs to talk to him. I didn't have that and it took me a long time to get my act together. I ended up graduating college and doing all right.

I hear ya and that's all been done. There are lots of dysfunctional issues in the family dynamic, but the older two grand kids in that family went to school to escape. He's just rotten and manipulative. I love him dearly but it's true. Gifted smart but his own worst enemy as far as letting his wants manipulate his future. I know, I know, most all 14 year olds think they have all the answers, but this kid is way beyond that. You know, we can only do so much as grandparents. He's an entirely different kid with me because he knows I've got his number and can't be manipulated. But then, he goes home. I'm praying that the things about him that make me want to throttle him as a kid, will be the same things that make him an exceptional adult. I've always been the "different" one so I get it.

Wheez, I knew I liked you from the start! I had a son who was crazy about aircraft. From a small child he only played with airplanes. He had some cars and trucks but those were only there for him to bomb and crash into. At 17, while a senior in high school, he got his private pilot license. Every weekend he was up in that little plane. He had been in ROTC all throughout high school and was headed to the USAF once he finished high school but right before he graduated we lost him in an MVA. They kept telling him it was really difficult for enlisted to become pilots but he wouldn't listen. He was determined. I often think about how scared I was that something would happen to him in that little plane and in the end it was a truck and he was a passenger. And by the way ... thank you for your service!

Cleaned the kitchen finally. Hubby will cook once a year or so and yesterday was it. He makes far more mess than necessary when cooking (I typically clean as I go) and leaves it for the next day. The amount of cleaning makes it not worth the break from cooking

I'm a "clean as you cook" kinda gal too but I don't know where I got it. Honest to God, the Mama can dirty everything in the kitchen boiling an egg. It's horrendous!

Take solace, the "dysfunctional" people now outnumber the "normal" people.

So when civilization collapses and the world is thrown into turmoil, the "dysfunctional" will get along just fine.

This is so true. Only the weirdos will know how to survive without the structure.

Also your lucid moments are happening more often lately, are you feeling ok? :p
