ok so i am trying to find my carto love and cant seem to hit the right one. i am sure it has got a lot to do with the battery i like which is a 510 slim so my options are limited.
so far i am just trying the prefilled cartos with different flavors
i love the no maintenance and convenience of cartomizers but i have two problems with them -
1) they have much less vapor
2) they are getting warm
i love the flavor of tanks but they need constant refilling and maintenance
are there any cartos that you guys recommend which will address the above two issues while still using with my 510 slims?

Boge 3 ohm are the most popular cartos on 510 - they are not very warm unless you fail to keep them damp enough. You need to keep cartos damp. For slim ecig cartos you need to use suitable juice and I find 80PG/20 or 90PG/10VG work best for me. 70PG/30Vg works but seems to degrade the carto faster. I also avoid all juices that drop flavoring sediment - sediment clogs cartos and bakes onto carto and atty coils. I use thin clear juices.

I also use a drip tip as a mouthpiece in the carto - easy to remove to add juice or just to look at the stuffing. If the top of the stuffing has gone white it could take a bit of juice so I loo before putting a fresh battery on, before leaving the house, and any time I think I've been vaping long enough that it should need juice. I also pay attention to the vapor and flavor - if they degrade or if the carto is getting unusually warm, I add juice.

There are few prefilled cartos for 510. And when you see ones with flavors like "USA-Mix" then those are usually filled with plain Chinese Dekang 100% PG juice and 100% PG does not make much vapor. Volcanoecigs may have some Magma (510) cartomizers. LiquidXpress has a small badly stocked supply of prefilled 510 cartos. You could put a 510 to 808 adapter on and try KR808D-1 prefills from Vapor4Life, SmokelessImage, Bloogplanet, Halocigs G6 and I think Cigeasy has KR808D-1 prefills BUT those will probably be warmer since they are usually 2.6 ohms or so.

Check around for a Boge XL to get something that holds more eliquid. Liberty Flights may have some.

Tanks hold more eliquid than cartos. Though it can look "funny", a standard cartomizer tank would work fine on a slim 510, as long as the underlying carto works. I'm using a notcigs M1A1 tank with standard cartos and a drip tip (just to give a bit more length, since the tank covers most of the carto body). With a carto tank, you want to use stainless steel (bare) cartos; if they have colored plastic wrapper, the wrapper should be removed, and the carto sanded down.

You might look for a carto at about 2.5 ohms. Personally I'm really enjoying the Ikenvape 801 fusion 2.5 ohm right now. Ikenvape sells a short 510/801 adapter, worth giving them a try perhaps. They run about $2/each at low volume, but up around 5 or 10 cartos the price is $1.80.

As others suggested, a bump in battery size, more mAh, would really open up the possibilities, let you try cartos at lower resistance (2 ohms and below).

If you don't like warm cartos then you don't want 2.5ohm. 3 ohms is the cooler end of what you can use.

2 ohm cartos are not recommended for slim batteries. They have the potential to damage your slim batteries. And those would be even hotter which does not seem to be what the OP is looking for.

If you want to try something different that has lots of prefilled cartos, try this 1-battery Volt kit - you can always add another battery. I recommend manual batteries. And I recommend either a plain tobacco or plain vanilla liquid to keep cartos damp (will change the flavor but by that point you have tried that flavor). Helps to get goo dreuse out of cartos and not singe them while trying to find flavors you like. But note - these will run a bit warmer than a 3 ohm 510 carto.

ok so my experience has improved significantly after trying out a few things and i am happy to report that i am extremely happy with the xpress 510 cartos that come from liquidxpress. my favorite so far is honey flue. the cartos are definitely bigger than the ones i get from volcano. the vapor and flavor are also significantly better.
these are the joye 510 cartos from boge with 3.0 ohm resistance (SR) so they don't get too warm.
i also got some blank cartos so i can try liquids that are not available in pre-filled form
also kudos to the condom refilling method that i learned here. i find it quick and easy

I use Boge 3 ohm and I stick to juices with 20% or less VG (30% works and makes bit more vapor than 20% but the drag of the carto would degrade sooner for me). I also avoid any juices that drop flavoring sediment in the stuffing (clogs carto stuffing, gunks up coil). I can usually get 10 days use out of a Boge 510 (which is 3 weeks for me vaping it 1/2 the time and KR808D-1 1/2 the time - I carry both models).
