Here's a spreadsheet that breaks the cost down to a milliliter used basis. I based the numbers on 20mg/ml, as that's kind of in the middle of where people are on their nic usage. Obviously cost can go up or down, but these are ball park figures for comparison.

Hey I went through your calculations and they are on the money. I took your spreadsheet and made it so people could change the mg and ml of the final product. Here is what I did:

Pretty cool, Scubabatdan. So, if I'm puffing on 60ml of juice a month at 24mg, then I'm using about $8.60 in nicquid if I buy from the most outrageous vendor on the list. With nicquid being one of the most expensive components in the chain, I'm still not spending that 150 bucks in smoking cigarettes. I should start putting away that money. If I was getting away with smoking before, it should be easy to save it.

Correct, and if you go into the juice calculator I made on the "Cost to Juice by the ml" sheet, then you can further extrapolate the cost to make the juice and see what you are really spending to make it. Just plug the numbers in of the ingredient qty and cost.

I think I made an error in my spreadsheet calculation. It appears to me, that I mixed up calculating cost per mg with cost per ml. I'm looking into it. I probably used the final 30ml figure into it as well. That would mess it up, since we're only interested in the nicquid.

[edit]
I fixed mine. Actually, the most expensive vendor came out to a 21.50 nicquid cost in making my monthly 60mls at 24mg/ml. Does this suit you better, Echos, or do you still need to know how I came to that number? Here's the replacement spreadsheet.

Remember, mine is just based on 30ml of juice using 20mg/ml. The order changed a little. Good Prophets turns out to be the cheapest, not by much. Of course for someone like me, I'm not thrilled with the limitations of 36mg/ml base. I like to have my options opened up a bit.

Just curious. how can 20mg @ 30ml be 16.67 (Good Prophets)when 36mg @ 120ml is $15.00 with shipping?
A simple check to see if the #s are on target is to set your mg and ml based on a know existing vendor and see if the $ amounts come out the same per volume.
If you plug 36mg and 120ml in the spread sheet I did it comes up the same price as the original cost using Good Prophets as an example.

editing. I thought you meant cost.

16.67 is what the e-juicemeup calc is reporting for 20mg and 30ml's. I trust it.

editing again. I'm completely confused now. I mean, I thought I had it clear last night, but I didn't. Using good prophets for example, the price with shipping is 15 bucks for 120 ml's. If your using only 10 ml's for example, then the cost should be 15/120*10. Right?

I'm having a hard time following exactly what you guys are doing (it's too early), but it seems that you need a column to calculate the cost for what you use in that 30ml of 20 mg/ml juice.

You have a column for cost per ml, but you haven't normalized it to cost per mg, which is really what you want to compare if you are calculating value. For a 30 ml of a 20 mg/ml juice you will need 600 mg of nic, and it doesn't really matter (cost-wise) how much volume that nic is in.

Or, am I missing something. Entirely possible? I've only had a few sips of coffee. Does the column that says "Amount for 30ml of juice" mean amount in ml or amount in $? It seems like it means ml to me. If the GP nic takes 16.67 ml to make a 30 ml batch, and it costs $0.13/ml, then the total cost of nic for the batch would be $2.08.

LOL it is ok I was confused with what you were doing... Now I understand. I was doing a cost analysis of the amount of nicotine as an average to get what the actual cost at 20mg would be without adding PG or VG to see what the actual cost is per company by the mg ratio.

Your susiquient sheet was determining how much it would cost to make a recipe, and how much nicotine would be needed to make said recipe to extrapolate the cost incurred. The amount for 30ml of juice on your sheet is the actual ml of nicotine sold by the vendor at the current mg, and ml you have lsted.

This make more sense to me....

View attachment 74944Here's my spreadsheet again. I added shipping costs. It's pretty comprehensive, allowing comparison for buying different volumes from the same supplier. It's a lot of numbers, and I haven't exhaustively checked them all. There may be a mistake here and there.
Nice work. The last purchase I made was in the top 10 and those calculations look like the same ones I came up with.

Hey, I just woke up and it hit me. I was right the first time. Dan, you were correct. The nic cost per ml, was based on the nic cost per ml of final juice, not just the cost of the nic. Now I know why it made so much sense to me two nights ago. See, I let someone question me last night, about something I worked on for 10 minutes the night before. I'm getting old, and I can't remember exactly why I did something like that, so I second guessed myself. I'm an idiot.

You should save this in xls format for those of us without an upgraded excel :)

Not that I have found, most people will not understand 500mg.... but they might understand the amount of liquid they need to make 100ml of 24mg, so I added a couple columns and made it an xls format so older excel files can read it.
Good work,

Added:
Ok I redid a couple things, I added in the ability to define the ml and mg quantiy, so you can see how much nic juice it will take from that vendor to make the desired defined amount.

Dang! I just came here to post that while trying to remember what the $ level is to get free shipping. You beat me to it and I still cannot remember their cut-off point.

I ordered a liter of 48mg and with shipping it came to $61. Not bad. I like lower nicotine so I don't have to stock as much PG/VG and 48mg is easy to mix and end up with 12mg without having to measure.
