Many of you already know about the unibit drill bit. But for those of you that don't, a unibit is used to drill holes of varying sizes through plastic and sheet metal. They are incredibly strong and are built to last a pretty long time. Leaves a clean, finished hole, much better than than reaming one out.

They are also costly, at around $35.00 for a mid sized bit capable of drilling a hole from 3/16", stepping up to 7/8". But it will be a pretty useful bit in your tool box so may want to consider picking one up. They are usually available at any home improvement store.

Hope it helps!

Those are exactly what I have been using on my mods and I also have a tapered round file (fine tooth) that I use. I drill out to just under the right size then carefully put the round file into the hole and turn it which slowly files the hole open until I reach the exact size I want. I end up with a perfectly clean round hole every time.

Go to Harbour Freight and get a hole reamer in the plumbing section. The hole reamer starts out at like 1/8 of an inch and increases in size to about 3/4 of an inch. With this you just drill a 1/8 inch hole. Put the reamer in the hole and twist it until you get the exact hole size you want. It's a hand tool, not made for a drill.

The hole reamer is like 5 to 8 bucks, something like that. It will increase the size of any hole you drill in plastic or metal.

That's what I use and it works perfectly. I've been using one of these since I had electronics class back in school (25 years ago) for building projects. It was one of the required tools and I still use one to this day.

I'm not saying the step bit is bad but the hole reamer tool does a great job for me and is a lot cheaper.
