I've been lurking around here for a while now but decided its time to post a question maybe some of you can help me out with.

I'm currently using the EVOD 650mhz battery with the EVOD metallic clearomizer / 1.8ohm Kangertech single coils.

I'm undecided whether I should just buy replacements for what I have or find something a little newer.

I'm happy with the clearomizer and would want to go any bigger, but possibly upgrade the battery and coils?
The coils I'm not so familiar with (single & dual)? and the ohms and voltage combo's confuse me as well.

I bought the above kit initially as a starter pack and it came with 1.8ohm coils so I have just been re-buying the same ones.

So do I just keep buying EVOD batteries and Kangertech coils but upgrade to 900mhz batteries and different coils?
Or go with a completely different set-up?

Thanks

Sounds like your somewhat satisfied with your setup. 1.8ohm single coils can be good for a lot of folks.
What are your goals? Longer battery output before recharging and more flavor and or clouds?

Depends on your goals.

If you have any additional questions, just hit "like" at bottom right hand corner and I will get back to this thread.

Man, if you're satisfied, you might be better off not messing with it. However, you might want to look at something like an iStick 20w and an Aspire Nautilus tank. I think variable wattage is easier to use, and more intuitive, than the variable voltage gear you're using. VW give you a really consistent vape from tank to tank and coil to coil. The gear I suggest will easily duplicate the vape you're enjoying now, and still give some extra "room" if you ever want to try more power or whatever. Just a thought. As I say, if you're happy, stay happy :)

My daughter and I have been happy with our basic Evod 650 mah batteries. We use Evod Glass or Protank 2 Mini tanks with Kanger single coils. We prefer glass tanks so we do not have to worry about what eliquid we put in them - my daughter's original plastic Evod tank melted when she put some Wild Cherry eliquid in it (she did not notice that the vendor we ordered it from listed it as a "tank cracker".

When we decide to upgrade our batteries, I am looking at the MVP, Coolfire 4 or iStick 30.

I like the idea of keeping my EVOD tanks but am not so familiar with the threading on other types of batteries.
Which is why I'm a bit weary about buying a different brand of battery and not being able to screw on my tank
Evod uses ego threading. Main other one is 510 thread. If it's got ego threads, odds are it's got 510 inside the ego threading

In general, there are two: eGo threads and 510 threads. Your batteries are eGo threaded and therefore your tanks must be as well. You can make them fit on on 510 threaded batteries if you like, adapters are available. And the reverse: you can put 510 threaded tanks on eGo batteries with an adapter too.

Definitely longer battery life and more flavor would be nice too.

I mostly use fruit flavors for my liquid and read on here that a higher ohm coil (2.2) are better for fruit liquids.

I haven't had really any issues with the EVOD...just the batteries losing there kick over time.

sounds like it's time to get an 18650 replaceable battery mod

I think I would prefer to keep the eGo threaded batteries just so I don't need to mess around with adapters and such.

That's OK!

I do like the sound of these VW (twist) batteries, I've seen a few EVOD ones on the Kangertech website.

If you mean Kanger the website in China, that's nice to look around. Kanger tech, the "official" Kanger sales site in the US is to be avoided. NO discounts (actually, some prices are increased), no special protection. Just a way to make money.

(I hate these so called "national/official" retailers.) It's part of the price-fixing efforts.

What benefit do you get from the VW? more cloud?

Yes, more vapour, more flavour, more "hit", nicotine etc.

BM3R - I believe that the reason that the 2.2 ohm coil seems better for fruit flavors is because the increase in Ohms lowers the wattage. I have also found that pure fruit (no cream, pastry etc.) has a cleaner taste at lower wattage. If you were to go to a VW device, the resistance of the coil becomes irrelevant and you can change it to suit your tastes.

The biggest thing to remember is that 10W is always 10W regardless of ohms or volts; with wattage being the actual power flowing through your coil, ohms is the friction trying to stop it, and voltage is the pressure behind it. This is why VW will always give you more consistency AND the ability to fine tune it to your likes

Thanks for the explanation Chips & djs, that's exactly what I was looking for. Soo many different options out there can be confusing at times.

Right now I'm looking at the Protank 3 mini (dual coil) or the Kanger T3S and for a battery either EGO V-V2 or Vision Spinner II.

Any thoughts on those options?
I'd recommend the protank over the t3s. If you decide to vape citrus, cinammon, banana etc. Flavors, it won't Crack your tank. The vision spinners are good quality ego batteries. If you're looking for more battery life, I'd recommend looking at an istick 30w. Yeah, technically it's a box mod, but it's tiny (my mom is 5'2", and her tiny hands are just right for it). There are two sizes of the protank 3 btw. Mini and regular.

if you're sticking with the ego batteries, I'd suggest the mini.
