Is the fire button recessed into the bottom of the mod. I just want to know if the mod will fire standing on end.

These do not fire when standing up. The button is flush with the locking ring unlocked. When you lock the button by unscrewing the lock ring (reverse threaded), the button is recessed and cannot be pushed.
