I'm not sure if my pics answered your question, Raynman, as I'm not sure what changes may have taken place since I bought them. There's a middle post that I guess can be adjusted with a screwdriver, but they aren't spring loaded, if that's what you're asking.

It's the original contacts. The positive contact. The ones that need to be cleaned and sanded when needed. Also need to use a drop of noalox to keep from arching which will score the battery positive contact preventing good contact.

The newer contact is gold plated as well as the spring is gold plated. The new contact you don't sand and only need to add a drop of deoxit gold to it every couple of weeks to keep it from arching. And also the gold contacts allow one to sub ohm unlike the old contacts.

To the buyer.. Rob can upgrade the contacts or you can buy the kit of wanted.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize he changed them, but it looks like that would be pretty easy to do on the mechanical Grand if one were so inclined.

What about the VV model? Are those unchanged, as they have the chip in them? That looks like it would be a more difficult procedure (not the spring, but the top contact), except if I recall correctly it has built in protection.

I never had any issues with either, and I've been away from ECF for awhile, so I guess I'm out of the loop.

All that started last year. The newest change is the stainless steel adjustabe 510 connection. It's all built like a tank now with nothing to break.

The vv reo needs nothing. He don't have anymore chips I believe but if it dies he can and has converted them into mechanical mods to function just like the regular reos. Can use a spacer along with a 18650 or a kick 2 and 18650 if you wanted a regulated mod still.
