I thought you had to choose a battery that fit up with either the 901 OR the 801. Now I'm really confused..LOL..not to worry, it's not you, I confuse easy with mechanical stuff.

Hope there's battery 101 for dummies and adapters 101 for dummies on the site when we go to order. Sure will save a lot of headaches for all!!!

It would seem that you can use either battery option
for any atomisers!

Ohh and you can buy the other type battery later if you like to have the best of both worlds :)
I think you can also buy the adapters separately so you can give both atomisers a try!

Steve,

I am posting on advisement of Casey with regards to The Prodigy. I plan to pre order as soon as you open the gates, and was wondering if a) you would sell the shell only, for those of us that have the appropriate batts. (b) With regards to the 18650 batts., I have some Ultrafire 18650 3.7 V - 3000mah BUTTON TOP Protected Rechargeable Lithium batteries....I know your website states 2200 - 2600 mah, though I wondering if these would work as well?

Much appreciation,
Mr.e

And this answer is for youfillintheblank :) I can't respond via visitor message for some reason, so I will just post here:

I have seen several people interested in a *Base* parts kit - Housing only.

So, Sure ... We can go ahead and carry a Base parts kit for those that have all their own batteries and charging equipment :)

Hey mre5674- This is for you from earlier in the thread! :)

Do you use the same atomiser for longer times? Do they keep providing great throat hit or does it die off after a while. I have to scrap mine after about 2 - 4 weeks as throat hit drops off and they become wimps, they rarely go cold tho :) Does vaping them in Screwdriver devices make them vape good for longer?

In a word: No.

What the SD (and hopefully the Prodigy) offer is more power with cheaper, rechargeable, and more widely available, non-specialized batteries. The atomizer is, as Trog has often said, a disposable -- until and unless someone comes up with a better mousetrap atomizer.

Good question. I rotate 3 atomizers each day. I blow them out (mouth) after use and let them set, thread side up for about 12 hours. Then about every 2 weeks, I clean them in soda water and then very hot water. I have a idea based on an experiement that a member posted pictures of about heat and atomizer health. I think the hotter you get that atomizer by using the manual switched SD, it keeps the gunk from building up on them. Can't prove it, but that's just a thought I had.

Steve,

I have another question re. the Prodigy.

What is the maximum available space (lengthwise) for a pr. of rcr123a's ?

I noticed most of the protected cells are a bit longer than standard. (Maybe some of you Modding Guru's can offer an opinion on using standard vs. protected cells for the Prodigy)

I see the single cell that Invidregis refered to is ~67mm and then I ran accrossed a couple rcr123a's that measure ~72mm (in series). So I'm wondering what the max length battery/'s the Prodigy can handle.

BTW, Anyone care to verify that the JKBC-304 atomisers will work on the 801 version of the Prodigy. I've been told they are the same dimensions and interchangeable with penstyle attys.

Thanks,
Mike

my brain is hurting.

ok, i've read a lot of the thread, but not all 11 pages :) so...i'm sure someone may have asked this and can hopefully chime in? if not, tell me to piss off and go read it all myself ;p

but...

steve, you know i support you, so this is more of...an angled question, not a slam.

since this is a first gen item, this is really going to be a public beta test, not to put too fine a point on it. now, based on your past record, i know you take care of your customers, so how is that going to fit into this?

firstly, we can't all hold you responsible if we just don't like it, or if this lot of them doesn't meet specs or perform the way it should, or just breaks....because you'd lose too much money trying to take care of all of them. but...have you considered the line of "let me help you" vs "sorry can't help you with that" when they release?

secondly, since this is a "v1" item, and most likely will be upgrades, fixes, etc...are you going to have any type of deals for customers as you grow this item into your "pure" vision? or will it simply be that we must buy the v1...then x amount of time later we buy the v2, etc? again, not YOUR fault for continually growing a product, but that could get pricey for some, and i'm sure you know already that some may complain about that strategy.

lastly...unrelated really....more cosmetic....

but you stated the LEDs are too weak to handle the higher battery power. have you considered making MORE of a light in the item? i mean, one wouldn't want to sacrifice too much power from the battery to run a bigger light, but i'm on the side of liking flashy, cool looking things, so taking away the LED makes me a little sad. just curious if you've considered any other type of LED options, or maybe even making the whole thing out of a blacklight cathode tube? ;0

Hey Flitz ... Lets see if I can help answer your questions:

As far as version 1, everything has to start somewhere, this doesn't mean we haven't fully tested it. She (referring to the Prodigy) will be carrying a 6 month warranty, so that should more than cover any issues. The only issue I can see having issues would be the button and associated plastics/soldering. Other than that, hard parts/pressed parts etc... I highly doubt we will ever have an issue with. Unless it gets run over by an 18 wheeler :D Also, it will still carry the 7-14 day *warming up* period. Meaning, for any reason, if you don't like it after 7-14 days, you can return it :)

The LED is off for now. We care more about overall size and performance over asthetics, however, we are thinking about asthetics for future releases :)

Okay ... I use the Classic Pen (4072 ?) ... I have a couple new attys left ... so .. I would want the Prodigy 801 ?? or ... do I pawn off may spare parts on my kid , and start fresh with the Prodigy 901 ?? I guess what I'm asking is which will be better ??

Yes, the Prodigy 801 is what you would want. To be honest, I prefer a Pen atomizer a 6v over a Mini atomizer either at 3.6 or 6v. :)

Confused about which one to pre-order. What are the advantages/disadvantages of 901 and 801? What are the advantages/disadvantages of the batteries that accompany the two models? Need some advice, pre-order day is tomorrow!

I am a heavy vaporer and would love a great throat hit. I, like so many others, have a real hard time putting my PV down.

I am having so many issues with burning out atomizers on my EVO/401 that I am ready to start fresh. Are the 901 or 801 attys any better? Gone through 6 in my first 3 weeks of vaping....grrr.

Plain and Simple ... I would run an 801 at 6v. It will make all your vaping dreams a reality :) Yes batteries will run down sooner, however, keeping a lot on hand and fully charged, plus the fact you can get 3 batteries for the price of 1 china made proprietary battery, you will be in bliss non stop.

Well the 901 will give slightly more flavor than an 801, however the 801 has better cart life than the901. I have 2 SD's and I can tell you you dont need more voltage with the 901 but it will help get massive draws with the 801. The 901 gets smokin hot with 3.7 volts.
Now I have a question for cash. Will the prodigy take both battery types or will we need spacers or anything?

Prodigy is built to take 1 18650 battery OR 2 RCR123a batteries :) It fits either or ...

Hey Mr. E ... running 3000mAh should have no issues ...

Hey Mike, it was built around a protected 18650 roughly at 68mm. The (2) RCR's inline measured 69mm (34.5mm each). There will be room to play with.

And I'm not entirely sure on the atomizer you have named?

I was wondering if your going to have a smaller version of the Prodigy which will only house one rcr123 battery or a 14500? I really love the idea of a quality ecig made in the US. But the prodigy is huge. I don't think any one wants/needs the capacity of the 18650 battery and the 2 CR123 batteries will blow most atomizer away in short time. In an earlier post you mentioned that the prodigy with 2 x cr123 will work optimally with 801s. I have 801s that run hot just with passthroughs at 4-5volts....the prodigy at 7+ volts will make the taste of the liquids unbearable....not to mention you would have to top of every couple of hits. It is proven that Trogs SD works very well...the only complaint usually is the position of the switch and it turning on in your pocket. The prodigy addresses those issues. So what is the point of making the prodigy so large? IMHO you really should offer a mini prodigy as well.

Steve,

Is there any validity to what EDO was saying about the "taste of the e liquid being unbearable" running 2 x RCR 123a's 3v ea. w/801.

I'm sure you cats have been extensively testing these units with the user in mind. That being said, is it just a matter of taking shorter drags than usual, and paying VERY close atten. to topping and dripping after 10 - 15 drags?

I think I'll take the advice of the creator, and go with the 2 x RCR 123a's 3v ea. w/801 setup, though nobody likes nasty tasting juice. By following the mindful topping / dripping / shorter drags....Will this be the perfect answer to Great Taste / HUGE Throat hits / HUGE VAPOR?

Thank you for your speedy reply, and awesome knowledge : )

Best,
Mr.e

See this is my main concern also. I WANT something really bad like the Prodigy, BUT I'm concerned with how large it is going to be. I, too, would like to see a mini version of it with what the OP is stating on the smaller battery. Is this a possibility?

I want to buy something like this really bad, but like I said, I don't know if I want to jump into this without knowing what possibly could be coming down the pike. Parts of me also thinks I might wait until after the first run to see and hear some reviews. If we don't order on the first run, how long will it be after that to have them in stock......approximately....and are you considering making a smaller version like a mini Prodigy?

Lucky, draw a box that's 18mm wide, and 650 mm long, then add maybe a centimeter in length and a half centimeter in width. the 18x650 box represents the battery, the extra length and width represent the case. That's what I estimate the size to be, I don't think it's going to be as big as we think.

And you could use it to club people over the head with if you feel the need. :D

I've had the SD for two months now and haven't burned out any 901 atomizer. And I get good, consistent throat hit for about 6 hours and sometimes 7+.

+1...............

I did not read all 11 pages either............was it mentioned what this bad boy will be selling for???
