Users of cotton wicks - what's the preferred source?

Qtips .... Cotton balls... other ???

Do any/all of these need to be boiled?




EDIT: Using a ProTank2 with primarily 60/70 pg fluid, should I think about adding in a 2nd flavor wick on top of the one inside the coil? Or....just try a single and see if it floods?

I use qtips because they make me feel hella macho.

Plus the fact I haven't gone to cvs to get the rolled stuff.

I never boil, I'm old school.

I just use Qtips. Seem to have less cotton flavor than the CVS rolled cotton, to me at least. No boil.

CVS Sterile Rolled Cotton.

No boiling required. And I don't get the cotton taste out of them. Even on the first hit.

I'm too hard to boil my cotton balls. I use em straight out the package!

I use Organic CVS cotton balls and boil for 10 minutes. They smell like hydrogen peroxide before boiling.

I use Peaches & Creme brand white cotton yarn from Wal-Mart. $3 or less for 300+feet and perfect size to rewick

I use either Organic cotton rounds or cotton balls from Walgreens or CVS, I have some rolled cotton that I am going to try. I boil and then dry in a low oven, but frankly it's merely out of paranoia.

EDIT: OP, I use that same setup sometimes, I have better luck with a small cotton flavor wick with thinner than 50/50 juices. YMMV

Cotton cheesecloth from Target, it's only $2.49, and I never boil. You have to separate the individual threads, but cheesecloth is a very loose weave so that is not a problem. Enough cloth/threads in one package to rewick many, many, many coils.

P&C Yarn from walmart and walmart cotton balls. I use the peaches & cream yarn for my coil wicks, and the cotton balls for the flavor wicks. I don't boil. I like to live my life recklessly. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Pure cotton is not white, it is bleached, and there are a lot of toxic chemicals used to grow it. Even 100% organic cotton is treated with hydrogen peroxide.

I use this, Buy 100% Natural Cotton 500-Foot L Cone Cooking Twine from Bed Bath & Beyond but it does need to be boiled. Took 3 times to finally get the brown color out. (I think they used the whole plant to make it) If I didn't already have enough of this to last me years, I'd order this. Amazon.com: Regency Chef Grade Cooking Twine 1 Pound Cone: Kitchen & Dining

As cheap as the different cottons are, you could try them all and see what works best for you.

peaches and creme 100% cotton yarn, just made one up for my protank today and its way better then cheese cloth and puff balls. just really good clean taste. Just much sure you boil it for 10-15 minutes

also no flavor wick needed with cotton. seems to fill out the area nicely. I take a strand and folded it in half and did 4 wraps of 32ga and its working great in the protank

Old underpants. Regular old tighty whities. When you are my size, youll find you go through underpants like an indy driver goes through tires. You're just walking along or sitting along at you hear it blow and the waist band starts unfurling like a blown tire and you know if you keep going, you'll lose control of you pants so you know its time for a new pair. Don't use the waistband parts though, the rubber in there tastes terrible. Try to avoid the skid marks area too. It makes your vape taste "earthy". Wash them first though.

Agreed! Very easy to use, and works great.

That's right... Old school. Don't boil. Go straight from cleaning your ears to inserting into your coil. Gives it that little extra joie de vivre.
