Using cotton?

I have read that using cotton for wicking is preferred by many.

I could not find a thread where this is addressed so my question is can I replace the top wick on a Evod/Protank coil with cotton?
I have issues replacing the existing wick after cleaning, it tends to fall apart and become uneven when putting it back on top of the coil.

Since the top wick or "flavor wick" on a protank/evod head is simply to prevent flooding and spitting you can put just about anything with absorbing qualities on top of your coil; silica, cotton yarn, qtip head, thinned out cotton ball, you name it.

Rewick with cotton, great source of information. That is all I use for BCC like the Protank, i do have to replace the wick every tank fill but its seamless and costs next to nothing.

i use a pulled apart cotton ball for wick and flavor wick.
