e-liquid "spitback" into your mouth generally means your tank is flooded. There is a number of causes for this:

Clearomizer Troubleshooting and Tips:

"Flooding" is a common occurrence in e-cigarettes. The definition of flooding is getting juice into the air passage of the tank. This can include any point between the mouth piece and the very bottom part that connects to the battery. Each tank has holes in that air passage, where the wick passtes through. This is required for the device to work properly. Unfortunately, this opens up the possibility for flooding. The trick with flooding, is knowing how to avoid it. I’ll explain a little more, but a few common causes for flooding a tank include: improper filling, over filling, pulling too hard when hitting the device, and the temperature can even play a role and/or damage.

"Dry" or "burnt" hits are also a common occurrence in e-cigarettes. This happens when an inadequate quantity of e-liquid reaches the coil. This can occur from using an e-liquid which is too thick for a tank, intake holes for the e-liquid being inadequate, or using a bad wick or coil. Doing "primer puffs", which is taking a puff or two without power on, may eliminate this phenomenon.

Before I get into the explanation, let me explain how an e-cig works a little more in depth. Nearly every tank has a wick that is used to absorb the juice in the tank. This wick cuts through the air passage. Each wick has a piece of wire that wraps around it in a coil. When you activate the button on the battery, you send electricity through the wire. As the wire heats up, it vaporizes the juice that is in the wick.

Improper Filling: When filling your tank, you have to be careful not to get juice into the center tube of the tank. This center tube is the air passage. When you take a draw, air comes from the bottom of the tank, through the air passage and into your mouth. If you get juice into this passage way, your tank is flooded.

Over Filling: If you over fill a tank (specifically a top coil like the ones that come with the starter kits and gift boxes), the wicks can become over saturated and just like a rain cloud, they will leak into the air passage. Once this happens, you have a flooded tank.

Pulling Too Hard: As I mentioned the wicks absorb the juice in the tank. As you pull on the device, you cause a vacuum effect that pulls juice into the wicks. If you pull too hard, you can pull in more juice then the coil can vaporize. If this happens, the juice leaks into the air passage and you have a flooded tank. Try using a longer, gentler draw technique.

Temperature: E-Juice is a viscous liquid. Which means that as it warms up, it will thin out. And in the opposite form, it will thicken when it gets cold. When it thins, it is more difficult for the wicks to hold back the thin juice. This usually causes the wicks to over saturate and, you guessed it, it will leak into the air passage and you have a flooded tank.

Damage: There are o-rings and gaskets used that can wear out with usage. If certain ones fail or get lost, leaking will occur, in turn flooding the air passage and causing you to have a flooded tank. Other than accidentally losing something, damage can occur when its carried in a purse or a pocket or by over tightening the tank to the battery. Over tightening is a very common cause of leaking due to the damage it creates.

Get into drippers smok tanks suck only way they would work for me is by poking holes in the whick slots to wick better but drippers is where a good vape experiance is
There are many excellent clearomizer tanks available, especially for novices who may not have the inclination to learn how to make their own coils.

I'm thoroughly enjoying a clearomizer now, and it vapes just as well as any of my drippers.

Sometimes it can be annoying or inconvenient to have to drip every few vapes when using a dripper. Do you drip while driving a car?

I agree, i have several drippers which i really like but also have some really good clearomisers/tanks. Sometimes its nice to just vape without having to drip. I still vape on my Iclear 30S and Kanger Emow......they wont blow huge clouds but are a satisfying vape.

I just wanted to mention that nowadays there are tons of pre wrapped coils available on the market, you never actually need to know how to wrap a coil to use a rebuildable. My local shops always have tons of coils, and if you hit the net then you can find practically any type of coil at whatever resistance you want.

I 100% agree that dripping is not ideal and can be a big hassle depending on what your doing. It is also not for everyone including me, I hate having to drip but love vaping on a dripper. This is why, for me, squonking just made sense. I was big into rtas but I always end up cracking the glass tanks, I'm just too rough on them.

I'm not the hugest fan of drippers either. I use one for testing flavors, but that's about it. I do think, if you want to move the rebuidable direction, while RTAs (rebuidable tanks) can be a bit harder to wick correctly, at first, they do offer some advantages.

So do drop in tanks, despite moving to RTAs, I still have many tanks that aren't rebuildable. The trick for you may be finding the one that does the job.

The Crown Uwell, for example gets a lot of love for being hassle free, just working well, with great flavor and a ton of coil options. I'm not a sub0hmer, but some Smok tank coils can just be difficutl to deal with, in terms of trying to get them to wick correctly, and smok coils have a reputation of having bad QC issues, from time to time.

Hi there. I personally use drippers but have recently gone to mechanical and also been and bought a bottom feeder kit. If you know what your doing with mech then I would recommend a squonk box as you get the best of both worlds really but you also get to build whatever you like on it. You have to like I said know what your doing with the one I’m using but you can get the regulated squonk mod. Thanks gooders

Did you change your draw technique? I'm still guessing that you are taking too hard of a draw, pulling in more e-liquid into the coil than it can vaporize.

You may want to try a different tank than a SMOK model. I use the original Crown by Uwell.

Well, you are getting spitback now, and haven't been able to determine why your tank is now flooding. I'm just saying, you're running out of options to eliminate the flooding with this tank. Try changing your draw technique to a gentler style and see how that works for you.

What wattage does you mod go to? It might not be enough for the tank you have? I’ve had issues like that before when I first started. I personally now use a cleito pre tpd and love it. Made by aspire. Has a 120 watt coil in and give me everything I need and more.

Its says in the specifications that the power goes to 18-25w but the coil is 25 to45w

50 50 the dude at the vape shop said if i use 70 30 it will burn my coil too fast[/QUOTE it might be to thin for the coils. Do you have another liquid you can try instead that has more vg maybe a 60/40? Also you maybe drawing to hard for it to be able to cope with. Vaping can be a pain in the bum but with the help of the experts on here you’ll get there mate. I’m new to the site but far from new to the vaping world. If I can help at anytime don’t hesitate to give us a message. Gooders

At this point i cant really vape to be able to draw more softly, so what should i do next? Switching coils?
Personally I would go better tank. Aspire cleito normal or 120watt one that is what I use but I use it on an rx200 gen 3 and I vape that at 80watts with a 80/20 dragons blood at 3mg nic. I don’t want to say anything I might get done for you see. Got to be careful how you word things or you can get in trouble. I never slate a company I always say their products could be improved and I always state that it’s my personal opinion.
