Ditto! I ordered a starter kit that shipped Monday and this is what I got from USPS today.

Your item was forwarded to a different address at 8:43 AM on July 21, 2010 in READING, PA 19606. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect.

Because of this or because of that? Come on, that's just lousy. I'll just hope to receive it tomorrow? I live about 30 miles away from Reading so I don't quite know how that happened as I know the vendor has the address correct on every correspondence. I swear, if you use Priority Service it almost seems guaranteed to get messed up.

hmmm... maybe I'll get them!! lol

I got my package in the mail yesterday and the package was ripped open and then re-taped with scotch tape. The bubble wrap package was also torn open. The invoice was still inside.

Of course V4L helped me and took care of the problem on my end, but never the less it still sucks for them.

Anyone ever have an issue like this? I ship items through my work all day long and have never heard of a package getting damaged but the actual item was missing. I have seen damaged goods and lost packages, but not a packaged delivered but empty lol.

Yes, something similar just happened to my husband with something he ordered off e-bay. The local post office said that they received it open with nothing inside....

the good thing about ebay is that you have the buyer protection, so you should have gotten your $$ back or your item. With V4L they have EXCELLENT service so they fixed it for me, but some other sites might have not taken that extra step to make sure i got what i ordered.

Yes we did get our money back but it just proves that things are taken along the way...

and yes.... V4L does have excellent service!

I used to live in an apt complex, one day the UPS guy knocks on my door and ask me if I know the people in apt across the hall... I tell him I do NOT know them. He then ask if he can leave a package with me to give to them... I tell him I guess he can but remind him that I have never spoken to the people across the hall, and he gives me two huge DELL boxes that very obviously contain a new computer and monitor... doesn't make me sign or anything. *I* left those people a note with my phone# and that I had their packages but I can easily see a less honest person getting a free computer out of the situation... UPS guy probably just didn't want to carry them back down the stairs.

Where do they get these people...

I don't mind suppliers using those bubble envelopes. Actually I appreciate them saving me money on the shipping. I just wish some of them would learn to use a little extra tape along the ends. I've been lucky I've never lost anything, but I've received a few that the glue just didn't hold up at all. One supplier I try not to order from anymore and this is one of the reasons.

I'm a pretty big fan of the bag/bubblewrap combo. It's one of the reasons that I order from the folks I order from. I don't live in a 'good' neighborhood, so a large, rigid envelope, or a box, wouldn't last long in full view on my doorstep. The usps bagvelopes(?)... envesacks(?)... whatever they are called, they fit in my mailbox, neatly out of sight, no matter what I order. They are also a pain to open:)

On subject, tampering with the mail is a federal offense! The usps does like to keep it's image as clean and friendly as possible, so there are good odds that they would follow up on a claim if you made one OP. Good luck!

I really don't like UPS. When I was working I could come home and find my package sitting right out in the open at my front door (we live in a condo) where everyone walking by could see it. Luckily I didn't loose anything.

Now that I'm retired, and use their tracking information, I can usually get to the door before he walks away (at least he knocks once), but sometime he is half way back to his truck when I open the door.

i'd say if it keeps being a problem, ask for priority mail, or go with ups or fedex. That's terrible, because the only hands touching your package from shipment to delivery, is the postal workers.

problem is that V4L only uses USPS. I have not tried their expedited shipping method, cuz its 26 bucks lol

I've been in and out of the saltwater/reef aquarium hobby for about a decade now. Everyone in that community is VERY weary of UPS and no one would even dream of using USPS for live shipments. FEDEX had been the only reliable shipping source with the best online tracking, and I cringe when I see anything else. That being said, my order from V4L came unscathed and on time.
