USPS strikes again

I have learned the mistake of waiting too long to order, so I wanted to be prepared for this weekend and placed my order on Monday the 30th, thinking the order would be here by Wednesday or Thursday, Friday at the latest.. Track my order and it shows on the 1st it has been sitting at the Postal facility about 5 minutes away from me. So I think FOR SURE I should get it on the 2nd. Nope. Nor the 3rd. Yesterday, it shows a missent. Lovely. So now with holiday weekend, I can only pray they straigten this out and I get my stuff Tueseday night.

Is there any reason UPS can't be used? I know they gave trouble bringing them in from China, but for a ground shipment within the same state would it be an issue? I put NO faith in the post office as I am constantly getting the wrong mail delivered to my house, and it makes me wonder how much of my mail gets misdelivered and the people just throw it away.

kathy - if I don't get my package the day it says it arrived at my local mail station I call the post office and ask to pick it up. The first time I called I was amazed that they bothered to answer the phone - but they did. I would have NEVER had the patience to wait for 3 days knowing the package is 5 minutes away and I'm coming up on a long postal holiday weekend!

For sure I would have called them by Friday if it sat there that long. Is there some reason they can't deliver a box to your mailbox? Did you miss a pink slip somewhere? If they can deliver mail anywhere in Chicago the next day surely something is wrong. See I know where Northlake is!

If I wasn't working 2 jobs I would have called, I get home too late and am either at work or on my way to work so don't really have time to mess with them. . I suppose I could have called from my day job but figured I'd get the runaround and be on the phone too long.

No pink slip-it says "missent" so I assume it was delivered to the wrong house...? Happens all the time around here.

I placed an order on August 28th....it shipped on the 30th...and according to USPS tracking, it hasn't been seen since.

Maybe you already said...send your vendor an email and let them deal with it. You are probably right about what "missent" means.

USPS really messed up a $400 dollar order for me. I have been dealing with a great vendor for over a year now pretty much exclussively. I went to track my order about a month ago when this happened and it said delivered. It has a signiture with the first letter of the first name and a last name, completely different then my name. I freaked out, went down to my local post office in Jupiter, FL and told them about this, by the way I had a Temp mailman that week as my normal Mailman Jim was on vacation, this temp also messed up 2 other delivery PKG's for me the two days prior which I did recover. The post office has done nothing for me so I went to PayPal whom I payed through, they have done nothing and said since it said delivered they would do nothing. I took the matter to the souther Florida post masters office and it is still under investigation and I am still out my $400 as of now and it doesnt look like anyone is going to do anything. In my own investigation I found that the woman that signed for my package works about a half mile away from my house in an industrial park, told this to the post master and still nothing as of yet. Hows that for a USPS &^%&% up.!!!

This almost sounds like an issue for the police. Isn't it stealing to take someone else's mail? Especially if it is worth $400. The post office obviously knows who got it.

It's not only theft, it's a felony. Getting it enforced isn't really a good time though. Stealing mail is a big no no and can land you a lot of jail time.

I haven't made a post in ages but this is an anti USPS post and I had to.

Wow this sucks! But it’s actually a pretty common thing. If a place of business gets lots of deliveries most will sign and open it later. The person who signed for this probably had no intent of stealing your stuff. The problem is getting the carrier and whoever signed for it together for the hand off. I just ran into this myself with a $4000 projector for a client. I had a huge error and my item wasn't even supposed to ship with USPS. It took over a week and several attempts to pick up before USPS got it back and to me.

My only dealings with USPS shipping /receiving is with Vapor4 Life and it seams like every other month they give me some sort of problem, I quit using them long ago with everything else.

Good news....my order which has been MIA for about a week, has finally showed up in my state at least. Will it make the last leg of the USPS journey? Your guess is as good as theirs...

I think they are grazing on my stuff....

I love my mailman, he is good at what he does. I made a point of showing him a V4L package and told him how important it is for me to get it and why. So far so good, the only two screwups I've had is with a temp when my regular mailman was on vacation...

Great-hope you get your stuff soon! Can't wait to see if there are any tracking updates tomorrow for mine. I think I'm going to place an emergency order with Cignot just in case. I always get their orders really quick.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from on Aug 20th (and some more over the next day or two), nothing has arrived. I ordered a USB Battery from Janty on the 23rd, not here yet. Ordered a eGo XL atty from Janty on the 24th, got that on the 30th. Ordered some stuff from house of vapor on the 23rd, also not here yet.

To compound the problems with USPS, mine is also going through the military USPS system... *cry*

OMG they sent my stuff to NJ today. Lovely. And the one day my mail got here before I have to go to my other job. How frustrating.
