So I got the original crown and was loving it until I started getting dry hits. I opened the top and only minimal tiny bubbles came up. I tried prime puffs but didn’t get any bubbles. Not sure what’s going on.

-- Did you prime the original coil really well before you added the e-liquid to the tank?

-- Are you a chain vaper? You may need to do a couple of primer puffs every few vapes (just as you would any tank)

-- I don't get this "bubbles" thing. I rarely, if ever, see bubbles coming from the coil area while I am vaping. Doesn't necessarily mean the tank is not performing if you don't see bubbles.

-- It sometimes takes a new (and well-primed) coil a tankfull of juice before it is performing optimally. I've not had this problem with my tanks but I attribute that to my 6 years experience.

-- Which coils are you using (ohm) and at what power setting?

-- What is the Pg/Vg ratio of your e-liquid?

I've been using three original Crown tanks for nearly a year and a half. Never had any issues with any, other than one of the tank's air control ring is no longer ratcheted (no longer clicks), but it still does its job. I get over 4 weeks with each coil. I use all three tanks on a daily basis; each has a different flavor in it. Some of my juices are 100% Vg that are a sweet pastry (coffee cake) and it doesn't clog the coils prematurely.

I never bothered "advancing" up to the Crown 2, 3, or Valarian. My mindset has been, "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" I had read and seen mixed reviews of the later versions, so why would I stop using what works for me?

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.[/QUOTE

What coil are you using and at what wattage

This is the .25 coil. I first poked 3 holes in each side cotton panel with a needle. I then put a few drops of juice on the coil, place a napkin over the top and blow into the coil pushing all the juice down. I do this until I see that the side holes are wet. I then add juice to the cotton on the side holes, blow again and wipe off any excess juice.

Once that is done I fill up the tank and take 5 dry hits with the airflow closed and let it sit at least 30 min. I then reduce wattage to 30w and hit the fire button to do 5 quick hits with the airflow open. I then start vaping by slowly increasing wattage over a few hours. I usually vape around 55w. I vape lung hits about 2-2.5seconds long. I try to wait 10-20 seconds in between hits but I was a long time smoker so sometimes this is challenging. My juices are 70/30 nicotine 3mg.

As for the bubbles I read that no bubbles means it’s not wicking properly

Here’s a question for Crown users. I’m MTL so I know I have to get 1.2 coils. But I only use Provaris and SVD 2.0. I vape between 8-10 watts. Is this tank even workable at that low wattage, or do you need to go higher for decent flavor?

Also, I’d be getting the tank first, then ordering the coils online. I know the kit comes with the 2 sub ohm coils. I can use the .5 until the 1.2’s come. Can I use my wife’s iStick 30 with the .5 coil, or again do I have to go higher watts for flavor?

I don’t want to buy the tank if I’m too much of a tootle puffer to be able to get in the best wattage range for the tank.

Also Vapor beast has a good deal on the Crown mini's that use the same coils as the original and are pretty much the same tank but small at 22mm. I think they are just as good with a smaller profile. page 2 in their deals section, $12.97 and coupon YEAHBABY knocks off 10% free shipping over $35. I have seen a few sales for the originals for $9.99 at a few places too. but most of those are sold out by now.

Do you know if you can use the V1 RBA in the Mini?

I use the .25 mostly but my sister has good results with the .5 at 25 watts.
That’s why I asked about Provaris. That’s about all I use. 2.5’s. I vape at 8-9 watts. I haven’t seen any posts about people using the crown at that low range.

You can use the crown at lower wattage with the 1.2 coil. FWIW, I use a tank with 1.0 coils on two of my provaris, the one I vape at about 10 watts, the other at about 3.4 volts (it's a 2.5). They both handle it fine. The lower resistance coils are likely not as well suited to a provari.

I have consistently heard that most people hate the crown build deck, and find it cumbersome to use. This doesn't surprise me as most RBA decks going into drop-in coil tanks tend to be "retrofitted" to a tank that really isn't designed to function with rebuildable coils. So, I'm not sure if that would be your answer, I would consider a "dedicated" single coil RTA that is designed for MTL. Lots of less expensive options that are rather excellent these days. The Siren V2 is my personal favorite, although it is a less restrictive draw than some. My second favorite is the Innoken ares, I really enjoy that tank, great flavor and draw and very easy to build on. The Berserker is an excellent flavor tank, but the draw is extremely restrictive. It also gets great flavor. You can get all these tanks in a 22 ml configuration (I believe) so you wouldn't have to deal with overhang either on a tube provari. Best of luck!

Thanks Anna. That’s the info I was looking for. I just happened to visit my local shop and they had the Crown on sale for $15. So I got excited. Thought it would be cheap addition to stash. But of course it comes with the .5 and .25 or whatever, so then I knew I’d have to buy the 1.2’s.

Extensive reading has convinced me that the Crown and Provi 2.5 doesn’t look like a great match for flavor at the low settings I use.

Someone stole my Zelos over the Christmas holiday, with a Kabuki clone. So I have the Provis and the SVD 2.0. I don’t think the power limits of those devices are compatible with the sweet spots of the Crown.

I’m happy with what I have. Just saw a cheap price on the Crown and wondered if it was worth a shot.

The most powerful unit my wife and I have in the house since the loss of the Zelos is my wife’s iStick 30. Lol.

I've not used the 1.2 ohm Crown coils on my Provari 2.5 or my current 75W regulated mod. But I have used a 1.2 ohm coil in a Kayfun RTA before on my Provari's. Your voltage range will likely be in the 5.0 - 5.4 range on the Provari.
