did you go to college here? I live in Brookings! :D I havent met anyone on here thats lived here!

Nope, I didn't go to collage there. I installed the telephone service so you could dial 1+ the number to make a long distance call.
Before that you had to dial "O" and have the operator do the dialing and connecting for you.
From there we moved to where you were this last weekend and installed the same equipment for Prior Lake, MN.
Ended up being an electrical design engineer for the company that built that equipment in Rochester, NY.

It was way before cell phones were even thought of.
It was January of 1969 to April 69 then it was off to Woodstock and beyond.

Star Trek debuted in 1966......Communicators sure look an awful lot like Cell Phones to me. :p

So maybe the actual thought was there.....it was just that the technology hadn't arrived yet to make it a reality.

:) Good Evening Everybody :)
WOW....My internet was down all afternoon for some reason, must have been working on it. I live in the boonies & they're trying to bring more service to areas around me. Anyways, There sure is ALOT to catch up on here since I was gone. Oh my :)I'm so sorry for purples bad weather out there. I've been sweating in the air conditioner today. Now I feel guilty for the hot sunshine I had...I can see I'm going to have to add Pineapple to my list of -A Must Try-... Joyce, Red is a cool color honey, LOL, I like it too. Love my metallic red battery...I'm not much of a phone person myself. It doesn't matter if it's a land line or cell. I do occasionally ask Scotty to beam me up though so one of those Star Trek phones might be what I need. LOL !...It's hard to remember all I wanted to say now that I'm typing here. From shipping prices to partial shippments to everything tasting like Poop !!?? And I haven't even finished catching up yet !...Gotta love this place :) Hope everyone has a good night tonight !!

Clover, your descriptions of the weather remind me of exactly why I moved south! I never lived in Brookings, but had a good friend from HS who graduated from SDSU a million or so years ago. One of my HS buddies is now a Clark County Sherriff, not too far from where you are. I grew up in NW Iowa, and went to college in Sioux Falls for a couple years, dropped out and ran away at the first opportunity as I just couldn't face another winter there. Most of my paternal relatives still live in SD (near Miller), my dad and grandparents are buried there and most of dad's siblings and a bunch of my cousins still live/farm/ranch in that area. I try to get back to visit at least once a year, it's so dramatically different from suburban Texas living that my kids find it quite exotic! lol

("It's a small world" is taking over my brain - now I need an eraser song...)
