The African Giant Pouch rat is native to Africa but has been spotted on Grassy Key in Florida. It is the largest rat in the world, growing to be as big as a raccoon and weighing up to 8.8 pounds. Despite ecological efforts to kill the rat in Florida, it has survived. I was just reading this article. Have you seen any of these down there Keyzy ???

OMG!!!! Thats amazingly scary. If I see one you will hear me screaming for miles,LOL!

8-o Anita, just shoo 'em away from the Space Coast, will ya? That's my next destination.

(I wonder, if I do adopt an adult kitty, would it be bigger than those rats? Who'd be more afraid of whom? Hmmm . . . )
 The rats haven't made it to the main land yet Eleanors  There was an exotic animal breeder in the keys who let a few of these escape from his place a few years ago. They bred and ran. But they thought they caught them all. Unfortunately they didn't and a new one was spotted in Grassy Key. Now they're trying to get rid of them BEFORE they make it to the rest of us. So you safe honeys :D

 we don't even have racoons here. Of course, there's wombats, Tasmanian devils, wallabies and goodness knows what else. 8-o I don't mind as long as they stay in the bush.

Well, another okay day at work. Apart from that, not a lot to report here. Replaced cartos in my two 3.5ml Nuport tanks - really I should just go with a 6ml tank, it's just they're sooooo big looking. Will wait until DH has gotten over the 3.5ml tanks before bringing one of the big ones out (I have three, just don't use them yet). At the moment I'm getting 2-3 days out of the cartos in the Nuport tanks, a lot more out of the Wowboy Peppermint cartos.

Sorry everyone, I cannot think of anything interesting to say. I didn't go shopping at all today, that's probably news?

Katz ,youre funny ,yes sweetie that is news ! I wish i had youre shopping gene as i call it with women ,i would have more clothes .Ha ! Hubby is very lucky because we have some nice little shops in half moon bay,and i prefer little outdoor shops to malls.
I don't like crowds and it makes me feel trapped in a mall .It keeps me away .
oh that rat story was horrible ! Hubby caught a huge one under the house ,yes here in the boonys we have em .I don't have outdoor cats so thats why .too many worries about cats getting eatin by even bigger critters, and too many places to get lost in the woods .Hope everybody is enjoying their sun because we have rain and wind off and on .Think the break comes today .

 I've actually seen them that big in Arkansas. There was a trantula (sp) crossing when they migrated near my house. It was so gross !! They crossed the highway there and you could hear them crunch when ya drove ova them. You couldn't help it cuz the road was solid full of spiders in that section !

OMG I am never going where those things are. Apparently there are huge bird-eating spiders in tropical Queensland. Give me cold climate any day. Shudder.

Well, news today? None so far, but I do plan to go shopping this afternoon... For some reason most of the large lady shops are gathered in this shopping centre (mall) in a lower socio-ecconomic area. I'm dressing appropriately, leggings and t-shirt. Best not to stand out too much. Where to park the Alfa, I usually park it right outside the entrance so it's in full view. And fold the mirrors in. I sound like a snob, I know, but it's weird the way people look at you if you're too different. Winter clothes must be bought though. I'll check in later and let you know what I got.

katz, I know exactly what you mean about parking. I am very particular about it! I'll do anything to find a spot on the street before I'll park in any lot where somebody's unloading a big honking SUV full of kids swinging the doors wide open. I also make a habit to back into spaces since I drive small cars and invariably attract the huge ones that always park next to me, forcing me to pull out blindly! Waaaaaaaaaah, I hate other drivers and I am absolutely perfect at it! (not)
