+1 for the low ohm fix. Someone has been over tightening the delivery

Relating to your other issue of 3.2 - 3.9 volts. How are you measuring this? Are you using a voltmeter? Do this... put the Vamo in VV or VW mode and set it to the
highest setting. Measure the voltage again and see if you get around 6 volts (single battery). If not, then you probably have a ground issue... or worse. Hopefully it's just the ground pin (screw) in the Vamo's cap that got loose or corroded... this is fixable, but you have to take the Vamo apart to do it... and you'll need a soldering iron.
Here's a photo of the Vamo's cap with ground screw. This screw is what brings ground to the circuit board. Bad ground, bad Vamo voltage!

Forgot to mention... if you bang on the head area with something (don't damage your vamo), you might be able to cause the ground to improve. Recheck the voltage reading as you do this and it might give you a hint as to whether or not it's the ground screw causing it.
