Ok simple question. Cause the Vamo can take 510 and Ego threaded tanks what adapter do I need to make it run 510. I know it can take them but heres my next question. Will it if I get say a sealed 510 to 510 make it so my topper isn't being screwed right onto the ring where the centre pin is ergo minimizing the risk of the centre pin o ring wearing out from over tightening because its being screwed into an adapter. And lastly if I use 510-510 will I need to due so without the top cap, do I need an ego-510? Or will an adapter not even work or do what I am thinking cause it can already take 510 and Ego

Thanks guys. I love how I can just ask something and get answers. I read tons of blogs before joining and I am getting more info now as well. Christmas day is my two year smoke free day and I am getting a provari (just saying lol)

Will it eliminate the potential problem of my topper being over tightened onto the devices threads thus causing the oring around the centre pin to wear out?

To eliminate that problem you would have to open it up and replace the center pin insulator grommet with a better one.

Depending on which vamo you have it might already be a good grommet.
I know my vamo 3 I had to repair twice (in 6 months); last time I think I used one of the silicone grommets from the base of one of my protank coils.

I order a 510 tank airflow controller from Madvapes. Tighten it down really tight on the vamo and screw the tank in as usual. Haven't had any problems with threads or insulator in over a year. Only problem is that this won't work with Ego threads.

Instead of tightening it down too tight on the vamo directly, you can also use a beauty ring on the vamo, so that the beauty ring tightens onto the airflow controller and holds it more tightly onto the vamo, then when you have to unscrew the tank from the airflow controller, it is less likely to disturb the airflow controller connection to the vamo.

One other thing about the adapters -- you might need to run your Vamo's voltage or wattage a little higher, when using an adapter. I have an adapter on my mech so i can put an ego topper on it, and it really lowers the wattage (I have a kick in my mech), so I have to adjust my Kick just a bit higher than the level I usually prefer. I think this is what all these mech-heads mean by "voltage drop".

No it won't. If anything you run the risk of making that problem worse since most adapters have a floating center pin sitting inside an insulator. If your topper of choice already has a "too long" center pin all that will do is displace the center pin in the adapter as well.

I took apart one of my 510 to 510/eGo adapters a few months ago and was surprised to discover that it really is an adjustable center pin in a way;

the center pin has two parts which can be unscrewed if they're not stuck together from corrosion; corrosion on that center pin threading, btw, would also explain significant voltage drop.
