So, where are you guys finding replacement Vamo cap springs which fit the cap, don't allow the the battery to rattle and won't cause the cap to overheat. I'm guessing brass plated spring steel would be the best bet but don't have a clue about where to find such an animal. Links please?

I had gotten replacement caps from Health Cabin, 1 came with the smaller spring and a larger spring, 1 came with just the larger spring. but right now, even they say they have stopped selling them until a fix is made.
You can get a hot spring from altsmoke used for the silver bullet but it will work just fine for the VAMO, I bought one of these when I got my VAMO and have had no problems with it getting hot and it has taken out the rattle issues I had with the small spring that came with my VAMO. I have a couple of the Alt.smoke SB springs and they work perfectly. It looks like brass in the picture but looks like copper to me. It appears to be solid rather than plated. Other people have reported that this spring from Avid Vapor also works, HeliX hot spring.
Vapor Bank was awesome about sending me one immediately and free of charge after i asked about getting one.
Well I guess all the Vamo owners put the rush on Altsmoke. They're sold out of the Hot Spring. Bummer
I stretched the little spring which came with my Vamo, but then I couldn't get it to seat properly. During a battery change, it went "sproing!" and disappeared into another dimension somewhere in my carpet. So I found a small and ancient flashlight in the glory drawer in the back room. The flashlight had been trashed thanks to a leaking battery. I harvested the spring from that and all is well.
I received an email from exhalevapores about the spring. Gave the option of shipping the Vamo tomorrow and then shipping the replacement spring when it comes in, delaying shipment until replacement spring comes in, or canceling order. Great customer service to give those options! I choose to have the Vamo shipped tomorrow and will just be aware of the issue that the cap may get hot.

I have already tacked a Helix spring replacement onto a order I was putting in with another vendor, anyway. So it's a non-issue for me. Can't wait to get my Vamo!

I emailed them last night because I saw I had put in the wrong shipping address and got a reply just a couple minutes later. Will definately keep them in mind for hardware needs. They run sales all the time too.

With my Helix spring, I was able to just grab the bottom coil of the spring and sort of pull it straight away. Basically, like you were trying to straighten it. After I did that, it fit snug and hasn't moved since, and this was a couple weeks ago, with many, many battery changes since then.
smoktek has replacement springs available free, if you bought your Vamo from them.
Free Replacement spring for the Vamo, fixes the warming in the end cap caused by high resistance wire.
They also have a replacement Stainless cap with the new spring for $3.49.
Replacement stainless cap for the Vamo APV - redesigned for proper fit in short mode. Includes new gold spring.
Here's a pic of mine after I installed the new spring. I left the old one in as well.
