Just got my SS Vamo today from Exhale. One hell of a device, I can't believe how heavy it is compared to my Young June Lavatube. It was said to have the second version of the spring (bronze colored and fat) that heats up the bottom cap. However, even after heavy vaping I haven't noticed even a hint of heat on the cap or the spring (and thats @ 6V with a 1.5 DCC). Is this actually the spring that was said to have problems, or did the vendor switch out a replacement? When I ordered it he had said that new springs from his supplier weren't in yet, and that he'd send it out next week when it gets here.

Other than that I'm just hoping to find a way to get the rattle of the fire button quieted down...maybe there's a fix somewhere in the 42 pages of this thread? Also, has anyone had any quality issues with their screen? Mine seemed to arrive with a couple of blemishes near the outside edges...at first I thought it was one of those little plastic screen protectors but at second glance it doesn't have one on it. I wonder if polishing with a dremel could get rid of them? They also look like tiny 1 or 2 mm cracks in it. I'll see if I can get a photo to capture it.

All in all, for $45 shipped on a SS Vamo I can't complain one bit. This device has a ton of functionality for that price point, and IMO it's unrivaled for the cost vs features.

I wish whoever makes the chipset would find a way to reduce it's size. These mods are good; Vamo, Segelei Zmax, CVI... but damn they're TALL! Reducing the size of the controller compartment would make these mods so much 'handier'. That, and stop with the deep-... drip wells/ego connections! A true flat-top F.T.W!!

Totally agree. I rarely use it in 18650 mode, just too long for my taste and in short mode it's as long as a Provari w/ an 18490. What give's?

The spring that heats up is silver not the bronze one. That's good you got new spring. No screen issues for me except for lint inside the screen. I took my Vamo apart and air dusted it.

Just got my Gunmetal Vamo from The Digital Cig and immediately had a delay in firing and a hot spring (not warm HOT) ordered a better spring from Alt Smoke but in the meantime I put a copper spring from one of my mini flashlights and YAY problem solved! The spring was close to the same size and firmer so the cap went on slightly tight but it's hitting like a champ, no firing delay and not even a warm spring.

Mine has the same crack in the lens. It appears to be in the back side behind the bevel. My only other complaint is that all my devices are tilted when mounted. And, yes, I tried to straighten the 510 connection as suggested on another thread, but it wouldn't budge. But, hey, for the price this has turned out to be a good investment. Still waiting on the supplier to replace the OE spring and may just buy a Hot Spring instead.

Vapemail today!! I've just got my Vamo it took a long time to arrive from china but it finally made it's way to Brazil!! It came with the cheap spring but I've adapted a spring from a extended cap I had from my Zmax (I don't find it necessary to stack batteries if I only vape at 8 Watts) and it's working great so far I have a AGA-T on top with a 1,3omhs coil and it's been a great vape!!:)

I got my SS Vamo I ordered on Friday from exhale vapors on Sat. Did not know they were in Austin so just about 20 miles from my house. Mine also has the bronze spring and I have had no heat issues at all.

I mainly uses it with stacked 18350's but have tried it with a single 18350 and 18650 without any issues.

Heh, here's my stainless steel Vamo with a clear Vivi Nova...and my girlfriend's cat. And don't worry, the cat never has access to eliquid, ever.

Hand polish with Autosol will help.

Just received my black chrome Vamo and really love this thing. One major problem though. All my devices mount at a non-perpendicular angle to the top surface of the top cap. As in they all sit on the Vamo tilted. Like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Anyone else experienced this? Is there an easy fix (guessing not)? This device tilt really detracts from the otherwise striking appearance of the Vamo.

And welcome to the wonderful world of Vamo's. I said this a long time ago, But they do work ok though. China quality is what it should be.

Got mine today. Love it. Hits a ton better than my ego twist. Only prob is the display only shows a bit of the numbers on the screen. Im guessing at what voltage im vaping at. I think 4.3 and i cant play with vw. Im hoping its because it sat in the mailbox at -30f for a few hours and i got it warm before use but i hope it fixes itself.

It may be condensation inside the tube electronics, then... from prolonged cold to human-likeable temps can do that to electronics. If it's that, it should be back to normal in a few hours/half a day of mild temps.

As an alternative, you may try to flood the upper part - where the electronic circuit is - with isopropilic alchool, then drain it and let it dry for some hours. If not isopropilic, at least 98+% pure alchool. It helps in absorbing water and evaporating it (hydrophilic).

Did that to my provari some time ago, when a misbehaving tank released a couple ml of e-liquid straight down the 510 connector and into the electronics, and it worked miracles.

NOTE: if you do use alchool, please wait long enough to make sure it fully evaporates, and maybe blow with an hairdryer inside the tube for accelerating evaporation. You don't want to turn on an electric device with alchool fumes still in its guts, especially if that device goes very close to your face...

If it is condensation, I'd try putting it in a bag of rice before flooding it with alcohol.

Never thought of that, but I guess that'd work as well; only, if it's condensation, it'd mostly in the innards of the electronic boards (I think to remember the vamo sports two of them, sandwiched), which may be a bit difficult/slow to reach from outside the device.

Ah, almost forgetting: (pure) alcohol doesn't leave any traces, just in case ravenlily would like/need to send the vamo back under warranty ;)

IMO, rice isn't much of a dessicant. A quick flush & drain w/ 94+% Isopropyl work wonders on wet electronics. I've saved a number of cell phones that way. JMO though.

Good luck!

p.s. You could always open it up & set it in full sunlight on a window sill if you're worried about your warranty.

Too many variables, you should say more about what/how you do... How do you check the resistance before installing, what type of wick/wire/etc are you using, etc. Anyway, a few hints:

1) some coils get shortcircuited (touch to one another, or touch some metal) while/after installing in the RBA, making the resistance effectively lower than it was before.

2) your multimeter, presuming you use one, is off and reads too much resistance. Set it to ohm/resistance and make the two probes of the meter touch: if you read anything else than zero, you shold subtract that value from the resistance reading of your coils.
That is: if you meter reads 0.4 when the probes are in contact, the 1.5 reading of your coils is actually 1.1, too low for the vamo. BTW, that should be expected with cheap, off-the-shelf meters.

3) your vamo is defective. I'd expect this not to be the case, though, as the first two suggestions above look much more likely to me.

So all of my RBA's are reading much lower I'm ohms than what the coils are built at. Has anyone else experienced this and possibly found a solution. Any thing I build that is around 1.5ohm reads low ohms on the vamo, frustrating!
