Vamo v5 mean mode?

I just got my vamo v5 yesterday and at this moment like it a lot. I read somewhere that this version along with the v3, and v4 only come in RMS mode. This is wrong. I notice if you hold down the top left button (button to view battery left) for 12-15 seconds, it changes output modes RMS to Mean and .So I set it to RMS. Is the information from the manufacturer incorrect or is this something that was just assumed. This being said the v3, v4, and v5 all can change output modes. Correct me if I'm wrong.

V3 does not have this, it's RMS mode only. It's possible that the functionality exists in the v3's firmware, but was intentionally disabled, usually by the omission/addition of a pull-down or pull-up diode or resistor on the circuit board. I didnt see any evidence of this when I had mine disassembled, but I didnt spend too much time looking for it. Next time I'm in it, I'll look a bit further and see if its possible to convince a V3 to do this.

Please do because what I was led to believe was the v5 had the same pcb as the v3

I bet they all have the same pcb and firmware, and simply put the diode in (or left it out) on the V3. Now the V5 comes along and the diode is back (or is gone again). That type of hack/mod has worked for me before on different types of ham radios, scanners, and cell phones. What I saw of the board the cpu part is sandwiched in between 2 other boards, the button/display board and the pwm power supply board, so Id have to get in between the two to find out. I was gonna order some v2 control boards to play around with, theyre only $20 at kidneypuncher.com. Kinda interested in building a wooden box-mod with vamo guts

I have 3 V3's. Two of them have Mean/RMS modes and one does not.

You sure? Press down and hold the small left button for about 10-15 seconds. If it doesn't show "Mean" or "RMS" then I guess it doesn't.
