I would ( and did) spend about 8 bucks more and get one from the US and a KSD at that. Getting it in your hands in three days is nice too.

That said, I ordered a cheap knock off VAMO to!, but bought it off ali express for 17 bucks. Have not received it yet.did it. I have many regulated mods so if it is crap it's not the end of the world.

I apologize if my post is offtopic to this thread:

I am thinking about getting one of those vamos ($22.25 Vamo V5 Variable Voltage / Wattage Mod - aluminum / 3.0-6.0V / 3.0W-15.0W / black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping) as I am a fan of black tube mods. I plan to use ot as my primary mod (I am still using a lavatube in 2014 :p).

Does anyone have any experience with those? I have also read that I need to get an adapter to protect the threads. Does it add too much length (I use 18650s)? And could anyone please recommend one?

ego to 510/ego adapter.
Screws on to your vamo's eGo thread and gives you a new 510/eGo interface;
I guess that adds between 1/4 to 1/2 inch of length.

those adapters are hard to find.

That would look sharp with the black atty's appearing now.

I think the adapter is the 510 to protect threads from getting stipped. Just don't force anything and it's fine on it's own IMO.

I just lost my black chrome Vamo V2 (had it over a year) the case cracked? I'm on the fence about getting another. I miss it but there's so much coming on the market now. I've always said for the price everyone should have one.

I have two of them and have never had problems with the threads. One was bought at Fasttech. Others might know more

Good to know. Thanks :)

Thank you for answering!

My issue is that I hate the shiny silver/stainless steel mods. I prefer the non-shiny black (like my lavatube). I am not in the states (lucky you guys :D) and I could not find that black vamo anywhere else.

Now I understand. We use the ego threads which are harder to strip. Thanks for the explanation.

But wouldn't the adapter leave a gap between the clero and the vamo itself? That'd be a weak point.

Sorry for your vamo :(

But I am sure I will drop it by mistake. Mods also have a tendency to break during my vacations when I am away from any source of ecigs :(

I actually bought that a year ago but FT had issues with shipping. I was in a hurry to get something so ordered a SMOK SID (And I regret it). It's been a year now and I still think of that black vamo so I'd rather just get it :)

Yes it would; in my case I use eGo threads anyway so I get a stronger hold; for 510 threaded tanks, maybe a beauty ring would make a big difference.

I believe FT carries 510/ego adapters.

But we are looking for ego/ego adapters :)

Thank you all for the answers :)

I guess I will take my chances without an adapter. I found a few but shipping to the EU would cost almost the price of the vamo itself.

I have never heard of the ego thread stripping. I thought you meant the 510. I think you will be fine.

Yes they do, I got 5 for a few dollars... I don't use them often but nice to have. And I am careful not to screw toppers on too tightly so never had problems with 510 threads. I don't use many 510 threaded toppers either, so kind of a non-issue for me.

It happens all the time ;-)

I will check that but I know I will end up with FT just because... it has some reputation :D

heh, that it does.................... I am in no way recommending ali express though I have had some dealings with alibaba. I am just rolling the dice with 17 bucks. Make a nice backup if it works. Or maybe a Christmas present etc. Gotta test the waters with suppliers.

After a time away, I have to say I'm still liking my V5. I've had the same issues everyone else seems to (except for the center pin problem, as I don't crank my tanks down), and all have been cheap and easy fixes. The latest was the ground wire popping free of the solder, which was my fault (trying to re-center the display after some button work. I finally got ahold of a soldering iron and five minutes' work had it back up and running. Like any regulated device it has its issues, but for the $45 I spent almost six months ago I'm more than happy with the longevity and performance. Even the issues have made for some fun, as I haven't tinkered in more than a few years, especially with electronics, and it's fun to solve problems on my own.

It's nice to have it back as my workhorse with the MVP2 as backup - I was really working the MVP hard at 10-11 watts.

Think I have read about this here before..
My Vamo v5 keeps returning itself to MEAN mode. I hold the left small button down (forever) and it displays MEAN. Hold it down again and it displays RMS. I assume I am good to go. Five minutes later get a burnt taste and check it and it is back to MEAN.
Any input from anybody greatly appreciated

Uh, when you go to check it, you're actually changing it, not checking it. There isn't really any way to "check" it without changing the mode. So once you set it to RMS, don't check it....

The burnt taste - since when you go to check it comes up MEAN, you were in RMS - is coming from something else. Poor wicking, too high a power setting, drawing too hard/fast, or any of the other usual suspects.

What topper? What PG/VG mix? (And some flavors just don't like higher power at all.)

KGD, just beginning to get the hang of not using too much
Seems reasonable enough, but I don't vape that flavor. (I do have a couple I like that don't like anything much over about 8, in a Kayfun.)

Wick? What are you using? Is it too tight through the coil? That can choke off the flow, and give (poor) results like you're experiencing.
