Vamo V5 wrong output readings?

I've been using (and loving) my Vamo V5 for about 3 months. I usually vape between 4 & 5 watts. Recently I had to keep reducing the wattage to avoid scorching my liquid. I have tried using the VV settings and even at 3 volts it seems too hot.
Has anyone else experienced this? It seems like all of a sudden the V5 is not accurately controlling the volts or watts. I have tried the same tanks on VV ego batteries and don't have any problems.
I am open to any ideas.

I know with some Vamos you have the option for it to use either MEAN or RMS settings for voltage/wattage. MEAN runs hotter; a mean voltage is more than the RMS voltage.

Perhaps it was set to "RMS", but has somehow been switched to "mean"?

Also, and probably more likely if you're using the wattage settings, you may have dirty threads. It'll sense a higher resistance, and use a higher voltage. If it's an intermittent bad connection, it might sense the extra resistance, give it the extra voltage, but all of the voltage will find its way to the atomizer.
