Well I decided to pass on the pulse 80 and now I think I might go for the pulse x? If the price point falls in line with the 80 that is. I do like the new G10 and clear colored doors. Not sure why they even went this route since some were already modding the 80 to fit the 21700?

As Tony said a year ago 21700 batteries were not out or in use. They could have as easily opted to let those who own an 80 to send them in for modding to a 21700. That way I think it looks better than trying to make a buck on the same product??
21700 been out for very long time
There are usually Very Few Dimensional Changes that can be made to Existing Injection Die Tooling that doesn't require a New Die Set. Same with CNC Fabrication, Fixtures, Code for the mod Body. And things like New Contracts/Moulds for 3rd Part Door Panels. You're also going to need Some New Packaging and Printing.

There is also the Issue of How Much a Chip Maker wants on the Front End for say a 40 ~ 50k Line Item Order? And just your Net 30's are going to get Paid if Sales are less than Stellar.

Rolling out a New Product can be a Ginormous Money Pit. And as Fast as the e-Cigarette Market is Moving, you Can't really just make a Couple Thousand to do a Sales Test. Because even if it is well received, by the Time you Gear Up and Capitalize Up, about 10 New Products will have hit.

You kinda have to Go All in and be able to Fill every 1st Wave Order. And that can take a Lot of Federal Reserve Notes.

base on the look, that is indentical with 80w (which we can easily put 21700 in it), only different is door (a lot thicker) which current 80w with 21700 having problem with ....

It will be Interesting to see what Exactly what are the Differences once someone get ones and can do a Side-by-Side comparison.

I think I might get the G10 Black instead of the frosted
I’d agree with you. I like g10 much better than the frosted look. G10 has a nice feel and will add grip. Although now that I ordered a rage, I probably will pass on this one. I used to think people were ridiculous that kept buying mods one after another. I was a firm believer that one mod and one backup was all that was necessary and anymore was just a waste. I still believe this but my brain has been unsuccessful in convincing my fingers to stop pressing buy now and add to cart buttons. Anyway I’m serious this time, I will not buy another mod. Although.....

I am the same way. I always wondered why people would buy so many mods. But last week I bought a mod, and now I bought another tonight (since the wife claimed the last one for herself). Spent over $200 on mods in less than 7 days. It takes self control or it gets out of hand.

I agree, g10 panels are nice. I have always enjoyed the feel of g10 grips on pistols and knives. Very durable and attractive material.

I figured they were going to put out an "updated" version to support 21700s. I kind of feel they had this planned out from the start to keep sales up, but that could just be that I'm the kind of person that always looks for the bad in things though.

It's called cynicism, and describes me to a "T".

I especially agree, since the battery life on both of my Pulse 80 mods is abysmal using both 18650 and 20700 batteries.

My guess is the Pulse X will be sold only in kit form at first, maintaining the price on the current Pulse 80w. Tony's video mentioned a kit and the RDA would also be sold separately. Wouldn't surprise me if they go this route at first to keep the Pulse 80w in it's price range.

Also, I doubt they will release the mod only with G10 panels, etc at the same price as the current Pulse. Guessing it will be priced higher, at least initially. I mean shaving the inside of the case/panels to fit a 21700 and tweaking the firmware to allow 10 more watts adds a lot of cost on the VV end, right? ;)

Regardless, it's obvious I'm a Pulse fan boy, I will get one. Hoping they release the panels for this as well. I wouldn't mind having a few of those panel options, but at the same time, the Pulse 80 with the 20700 is treating me well. I may wait to see if they release mod only for this reason. I have no use for this RDA, the 21700 is just another battery option that should have been in the Pulse 80, and the extra 10 w is of no use to me.

I do like the panels and the 21700 option though. I won't be getting multiples of this one though unless it's sold mod only, and the price is close to the current Pulse 80. It just doesn't offer me that much more over the current one since I vape lower wattages and the 20700 does well for me.

EDIT: According to the VV site, the outer dimensions are exactly the same as the Pulse 80w (82mm x 56mm x 27mm), so obviously they just trimmed down the inside and thinned the panels to fit the 21700. Just funny how some folks have already done this. Tony's videos from a while back state they couldn't fit a 21700 keeping that size. Obvisouly, all marketing. For how much crap the Gene/Vandy chip caused, they could have easily had the original fit a 21700.

Nice, I noticed the Brightness have been changed to BRI from BL, which I got already on my Pulse 80. I hope they can also import the Factory Reset (RST) and Lock Ignition (FIR) on the Pulse 80. I can't wait for the new firmware for the Pulse 80
