Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at the BSKR MTL Starter Kit from Vandyvape. The BSKR MTL Starter Kit was sent for the purpose of this review by Kary from Vandyvape.
Berserker MTL Starter Kit | VANDY VAPE
Introduction
Like all the Berserker projects the BSKR MTL Starter Kit is a collaboration between Alex from Vapers MD and Vandyvape. This kit see's a few firsts for Vandyvapes as it's their first starter kit and also thier first tank that takes stock coils. I am a fan of the Bererker MTL RTA's especially the Mini so i was very interested to find out how well the Berserker tank performs. The battery has 2 modes Bypass and 3.7 constant voltage output.

Aesthetics and Ergonomics
The Kit came in sample packaging and i received the White version which has matching White battery and tank, the other colours available are, Matte Black, SS, Gun Metal, Gold, Rainbow, Blue, Red, Green and Purple, all tanks match the colour of the batteries. Starting with the tank, it has a textured airflow control ring which slightly protrudes and the bottom edge of the top-cap has the same texturing for grip. The top of the tank has gradual stepping giving it a slightly domed look making it very much a Berserker aesthetically, the pre-installed drip tip has an increasing in size almost corkscrew design which looks a bit different. The battery has shapely metallic top and bottom textured sections, the front has a large shield shape Silver fire button towards the top with a transparent surround, towards the bottom we have "BSKR" printed in Silver on the vertical. The reverse side has the micro USB port towards the top and again printed in Silver safety stamps towards the bottom. The base of the battery has branding, the device is very ergonomically friendly, looks very nice and seems well made.

The Berserker Tank
The tank is 19mm diameter at the very base and 19.5mm when measured around the airflow control ring, it's shape and looks is unashamedly a Berserker tank looking very much like the Mini RTA. The tank unscrews into it's various parts very easily and changing to the higher 3.5ml capacity bulge glass is equally easy. The Berserker is top-fill, you simply unscrew the top-cap from the little air pipe which allows you to fill the tank with ease, the pre-installed 510 drip tip is very nice as mentioned and can be changed for the more standard looking supplied 510 or one of your own. The kit comes with 2 different coils which are spaced horizontal Nichrome coils, their is a 1.5ohm rated between 7W - 15W (Best 10W) and a 1.8ohm 7W - 13W (Best 8W). The coils simply screw straight into the base, then prime, then screw the base back on to the tank which will fasten the top of the coil to the bottom of the air pipe. The airflow has 5 different diameter holes and there is a guide to which is best against the use of different mg nic salts, not being a nic salts user or knowing more than the average about them i really don't know how relevent the guide is but here it is:
0.8mm, 50 - 60mg for Nic salt
1.0mm, 40 - 50mg for Nic salt
1.2mm, 30 - 40mg for Nic salt
1.4mm, 20 - 30mg for Nic salt
1.6mm, 10 - 20mg for Nic salt
The airflow control ring is very tight and i found to adjust the airflow i needed to take it off the battery. As mentioned the Berserker tank comes in matching colour to the battery and can also be used independently.
The BSKR Battery.
The device can be switched on and off with 5 clicks of the fire button, the BSKR has 2 different modes of operation (Bypass and constant output), switching between the 2 is done with a 3 second press of the fire button when the device is off. When the transparent ring around the fire button lights up White the device is in Bypass mode (direct ouput), when it lights up Orange the device is in constant voltage mode which gives a constant output of 3.7v. When the battery goes below 3.2v or there is no longer enough voltage to give 3.7v in constant output the fire button surround flashes Red 10 times and the fire button will no longer fire. There are a number of other safety features that are indicated with varying amount of flashes, the protections are overtime protection, no atomizer alert and short circuit protection. The top of the battery has a Gold plated, spring loaded 510 and the battery can be used independently with other tanks but any tanks over 19mm will have overhang.
Performance
The device fires instantly and gives a very consistent vape in constant output mode which is how i used it. Both coils are excellent for flavour obviously they are not quite matching the Berserker RTA's but they give a good go. I preferred the 1.5ohm coil at higher than the recommended best at 13W with a fresh battery with the device on direct output, my wife prefers the 1.8ohm and she now has this kit and is rocking the 1.8ohm at 8W and she loves it. The battery life is not bad at all pretty much lasting a whole day with such low wattage, the battery also charges quickly, it takes around 1.5 hours and the device also supports pass-through. The only complaint i really have is the lack of battery life indication.
Conclusion
As you would expect from a tank bearing the Berserker name, this starter kit gives very good flavour and is ideal for starters and those who vape nic salts.
