would really love a good vannila custard recipe using TFA flavors. any helped would be greatly appreciated.
FYI

From TFA:
"*** contains both "Custard" ingredients (acetoin and acetyl propionyl) -Please see our information section on these ingredients in the Flavorist Corner (lower left of the screen)
****** This flavor should only be used in Food and Cosmetic applications.****** This flavor (no matter what company makes it) has inhalation risks if it contains either Acetoin or Acetyl Propionyl!"

ya i knew that thank you tho. just meant "the flavor" I do one thats kinda close to what im looking for using vanilla swirl , which is the custard without "the bad stuff" and mix it with gram cracker and marshmallow and sweet cream or bavarian cream but im just missing something . thought gramcracker was what i was looking for and its really good so its staying in the recipie still just missing something .

I hate to say it, but vanilla swirl by tfa is pretty terrible as a base for any custard recipe. It is missing those sweet dairy notes that make a custard, custardy, for lack of a better term. You really can't get those back by adding other flavors. Do yourself a favor and get a bottle of capella's vanilla custard. Once you get it try the grant's vanilla custard, and stevo's vanilla custard found here at ecf. Both are good, and can easily be manipulated to suit your taste. I'm not just talking out my ... either. I have experimented with custard flavors from multiple companies for the past few months. I have made, and vaped, at least a liter of custard juices.

Capella's Vanilla Custard, as a DIY Flavor, is about the best you can buy right now. I've tried TPA & FA and neither of them remotely come close to even matching the flavor profile from CAP. It's not cheap w/shipping, but you'll enjoy it far more and it mixes well with TPA's line of flavors (GC, VS and others). I'd recommend it over anyone else's.

I have a vanilla custard recipe that I like:

Vanilla Custard
Vanilla Custard Capella 15%
Dulce de Leche TFA 2.5%
EM 1-2 drops/10 ml

There are several recipes out there, have not made Stevo's yet, it has many more ingredients. I am also going to try it with FA Catalan Cream instead of the DdL.

I am aware of the problems with "custard notes", even if the Capella's says it uses none of the bad chemicals. I do not vape this every day, all day, just a treat now and then, and it IS a treat! Yummmmm

12-15% seems pretty close with Cap's vanilla custard. It is good by itself, but I find that it is better with a few additions. You can add small percentages of cream, graham cracker, fruit, caramel, horchata, or anything else you may like. Keep the percentages of those additions small though, as delicate notes are easily overwhelmed. I have actually been thinking about creating a licorice custard, and a torrone custard recipe, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

They state there's no Diacetyl, though I'd say Acetoin or AP is present in some percentage. The flavor is far too rich for it to not be in there. That said, that doesn't stop me from vaping it right now.

They way I see it, the issues that stem from Diacetyl are after years upon years of exposure. It wasn't something that occurred in a years time, or even 5-10 years. Smoking however, has a death toll rate associated with it and we knowingly smoked 4,000+ chemicals every day. If, by vaping, I bring 4,000 down to PG, VG, Nicotine, a Flavor and a small percentage of one of those, I don't see how that's any more harmful.

This thread has tons of good information...including several folks (including us) that are very satisfied with the CAP VC at 7.5% with the 2.5% Dulce de Leche http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/475332-grants-vanilla-custard-2.html

In that thread (post #61) you'll also find a link to data that confirms that CAP VC does contain diacetyl, along with the assorted cohorts in crime. Some folks seem to have 'tough lungs' from smoking so they don't feel/sense it - and others of us seem to be able to discern the burning/irritation rather quickly. Neither hubby/myself can tolerate the CAP VC for more than a few hits without starting to feel the negative effects. We've seen several posts of people not being able to vape it. Check out the data so you can make a truly informed choice. Just because we don't "feel" damage happening, doesn't mean it's not happening :(

We're working on a few blends with minimal/no CAP VC...and we agree, Vanilla Swirl isn't a player.

as far as the "bad custard" im not sure where i stand on it but for the time being its whats helping to keep me from going back to anologs . i started vaping almost by accident. quitting smoking wasnt even on my mind or had even heard of vaping and my buddy happened to bring me a vuze ecig because he was quiting and wanted my to try it. havent had a cig in 125 days . eventually ill try to stop vaping as much custard but the reward of vaping custard outweighs smoking cigarettes for right now. thanks again everyone
