I was finally able to purchase one of the Vanilla Upgrade kits. The kit contains replacement, silver-plated copper contacts, a new top insulator, switch magnets and a replacement spring (if you choose not to use the magnets). It is meant as an upgrade for the smok-E Mountain Vanilla mod.

I am creating this post so that anyone else interested in this kit can see the benefit in terms of improved voltage drop - and it IS greatly improved. Not only did I perform before & after voltage tests which show a marked improvement - but it is QUITE obvious how much harder the mod hits now! So, below are my numbers and a few pics to corroborate:

Vanilla Upgrade Kit

Voltage Drop - before & After
(Load provided by a Trident v2 rda with a 1.25 ohm, single coil - this is the device I use for all of my voltage testing)

BEFORE: Fresh Samsung 25R
No Load = 4.21
1.25 ohm Load = 3.68
Drop = .53

AFTER: Fresh Samsung 25R
No Load = 4.21
1.25 ohm Load = 4.02
Drop = .19

Sorry it took so long to respond. I thought Tapatalk was supposed to notify you of this kind of stuff...guess not!

Anyhow - they sell them at localvape.com (at least they did - I didn't see them listed when I just checked) - but they always sell out FAST. I got on a notification list by contacting local ape. They emailed me when they restocked.

As for whether it'll work with the clone - I honestly do not know. I'd be very interested in finding out - as would others I suspect. Please report back if you get one and try it out.

Thanks!

Had contact with Justin from Smok-E-Mountain on FB and he confirms that mojo has taken over from local for supply of spares and upgrades.

I installed the magnets and silver plated contacts in my copper Vanilla (authentic) and am finding it hits harder than before. I haven't measured the voltage drop unlike the OP, but it definitely hits harder with the upgrade and doesn't get hotbutton-osis like before ( the spring was about done on mine.).

If manthe, or someone else could test the new contacts, spring and magnets idividually, it would answer Miata GT's suggestion of magnets vs contacts in terms of voltage drop.. that would be interesting to see.

As regards the hybrid adapter, it is purely an aesthetic upgrade, doing away with the larger top cap, since it still uses the same adjustable pin system.
I have 2, one from localvape and the other from mojo and regrettably with both hybrids, the pins don't make contact with most of my atty's as they were cut off too short in my case.

Here are 3 solutions to this in case anybody has a hybrid:

tighten the 'battery rattle' pin all the way up until it contacts the 510 on the atty - leaves you with rattle of course
use just old (full length) pin without the battery rattle adjuster. You'll likely not be able to tighten up the switch all the way leaving a small gap, but contact is made!
cut the old copper pin yourself leaving it a bit longer. ..say 5-6 threads instead of 7, ie, cut it longer!

I also received SS locking cap and top cap to mix up with the brass and copper. Modding is sick..
