Hi, I started vaping as a way to cut down smoking last week but found that after 1 day I was easily able to stop smoking all together . I'm vaping quite a lot and have read that this is normal for new starters as your body adjusts to the new way of receiving nicotine. I was just wondering if this is true for anyone? I.e do you vape less after a couple of weeks? I'm only using 16mg Nic and about 3-5 ml a day, which I know isn't loads but I would like to cut down

I vaped a LOT of 24mg juice at first. It eventually leveled out as I discovered how much I needed to get the amount of nicotine I wanted. I was "over-vaping" as a sort of nervous reaction to quitting the analogs - it was making my heart race, and making me a little nauseous, but I eventually figured out the right amount. After about a bottle (30ml) and a half or so of 24mg juice, I decided do go down to the 18mg, and well before I finished that bottle I decided it was too strong. I was going to get some 12mg, but I skipped it and went straight for the 6mg. I'll be getting the 0mg next, and I have a feeling I'll barely notice.

Your vaping habits sound quite similar to mine in the early stages (first 2-3 weeks). I was vaping 18-24mg/ml strengths at around 4ml a day. LOTS of vaping, almost to the point of nausea. But....it kept me away from the ciggies 99.9% of the time. As time has progressed, I've incrementally decreased my nic strength (almost ready for 6mg/ml for all day). However, I still am at 4ml/day consumption.

Everyone's body has different requirements. Some of us will vape less, some of us will vape the same amount, with lower nic liquids. Some of us stay at the same rate for extended periods. Whatever works, works, right? Take it slow, your body will tell you if/when it's time to cut back.

I'm just over a month into vaping after 40 years smoking.

I have a V2 in my pocket.
VTR in my hand.
a Spinner & Protank in both cars.
Vamo on desk.
V2 on counter in bathroom.
Tesla in kitchen.
Vamo on workbench in basement.
Evic on desk at work.
VV v3.0 is currently lost.
Then I have a drawer of my backups.
Enough DIY supplies for 2 years.

I vape more than I smoked for sure and i have an unopened pack of smokes laying on my desk that I look at every day when I think I might be going overboard with vaping. Every time I think about it.. I go browsing FastTech for something I might need.

I really don't think you can vape too much if you are an ex smoker and want to stay that way.

Hi Iem and welcome to ECF. Congrats on being analog free and glad that vaping is working for you. Everyone is different, but I vape as much now as when I started 5 months ago, so I am still vaping about 3ml per day, give or take. What is different is that I've dropped my nic level, which has been a goal for me.

What was most important (and still is today) is that I do whatever it takes to remain analog free because that was and is my goal. If I felt the need to increase the amount I vape or increase the nic level to remain analog free, I would do it.

Folks here have suggested that this is a marathon and not a sprint, so for me, there is no need to rush to zero nic or zero vaping. I know I want to continue to drop my nic level, but am in no great hurry for that to happen. I've already dropped from 18mg to 12mg and just ordered some 10mg. In another couple of months I will order some 6mg juice and see how it goes.

I smoked for many years, so as long as I remain analog free and am making progress toward my goals, I am one happy camper. Along the way, I am getting real enjoyment from vaping...way more than I got from smoking. So I figure it is a win/win situation. My health and sense of well being is already much improved, so I really am happy with where I am on this vaping journey.

Thanks for joining ECF and for sharing your story. I hope you find this community and the folks here to be as helpful, supportive and knowledgeable as I have found them to be.

Keep the vape and namaste.
