Vape Makes me Cough

Nicotine is a huge factor in it. I learned the hard way. I started out on Blu e-cigs out of curiosity. I could never smoke actual cigarettes at all. I would buy them mostly for the "pretty smoke" coming out of my mouth. I saw a commercial for the blu e-vigs, long story short they led me to get a mod (Vamo V5 to be exact). When I was still using the Blu's I had bought some Vanilla e-juice to refill the carto's and I still had the juice. My mod arrives in the mail and it was the only juice I had on hand, so I popped that into my protank, took a toot...and proceeded to cough like a mad man for 5 minutes. As I am new to vaping with Mods (this was 3 days ago), I just kinda assumed that's how vaping was and I had to get used to it. I went the whole day forcing myself to Vape this 24 ml/mg juice. I visited a local vape shop that mixes their own juices and got a 3ml/mg juice, and boy is it night and day. Higher nicotine hurts :(

And just to be different, high VG makes me cough like crazy.....

I smoked for 40 years and was able to give up the first day I picked up an ecig. So it can be done, but she has to want to do it!

High VG can make me cough also, it's like a tickled throat cough, not from harshness. The cough starts almost immediately upon inhale, even with small amounts of vapor. Another thing to consider is that for some people, vaping will make them cough untill they pretty much cut out the smoking altogether.
When I first started to vape and had some cigs left, I'd go back and forth smoking and vaping, I woud always cough when vaping. That persisted until I put the cigs down for good.

Vaping doesn't make me cough, but it does my mother. She recently had a mini stroke and it was pretty traumatic for the whole family. The doctor told her to quit smoking ofc, and while she was in the hospital all the nurses and some of her doctors were constantly talking about e cigs and how they are unproven, BUT without a doubt safer than smoking. So she decided to give it a try. She got the Vision Spinner.

Fast forward a month or so and I started vaping on her spare battery and spare top thingy and she went back to smoking. Now I just got my first batch of diy e juice materials and I'm going to start mixing my own e juice.

Sorry for the long intro. My question is how can I help my mother stop coughing when she vapes? She is srsly ......ed about it. She can't get ANY vapor in her lungs without coughing it back up immediately. She really doesn't want to quit smoking and some of this is just her being overly dramatic, but I know when I first started it made me cough and even after a month, in the mornings, it takes me a few puffs before it feels natural again.

So what can I do. I primarily am asking how I can mix a smoother juice for her, but any suggestions to help me convince her to switch over to vaping would be appreciated. I hate to see her nearly turned into a vegetable and not change anything to avoid it happening again. Not to mention the ridiculous price of cigarettes and the guarantee that she is certainly shortening her life by smoking.

Use 50/50 PG/VG, and lower the nic: try 6mg/ml.
If she wants more nic, add more.

Too much vg can also cause coughing and high pg tends to make the nic hit harder, so I'd suggest don't start off too far on one side or the other of the pg/vg mix.

One she stops smoking, coughing tends to increase for a while, so there is a transition period which can be hard on the chest from coughing;

also, she's doing lung hits: see if you can get her to try holding it in the mouth; like smoking a cigar.

and get a few tanks and put higher strength nic in one so he has options to take a strong hit tank once in a while if she feels a craving, but use a low strengh tank as a comfort stick.

Great advice! edyle she does do lung hits and I keep telling her to just fill her mouth and inhale. Yes it will probably make you cough, but only a couple times then your lungs will adjust to it. I've even thought of steaming out the bathroom with the ac vent closed and everything so the room is a solid wall a steam. Maybe that will ease the transition into a vapor hit. Bottom line is she is being a stubborn .... If you guys could see her hit this thing, you'd roll laughing. It looks so ......ed. It's got to be her, because she vaped for days without coughing. She's just purposely being difficult which is just like her. Annoying old nutter that she is.

Nicotine is a huge factor in it... :(

Thanks for the advice. I just assumed that since she smokes reds that she'd need the higher nicotine level. I might let her buy some from a store. She'd for sure be more apt to try it if she thought a "professional" had made it. I'm going to be going to Tiki Vapors this weekend. The owner there said he'd walk me through how he mixes his juices. Very cool of him. Maybe she'll come with me and talk to the pros.

HEY you're in Houston too. o/ I'm out in Katy. You're the first Houston person I've seen here. Check out Tiki Vapors on Mason rd. Very cool laid back environment. The owner loves when ppl come by and just hang out.

What I've noticed when I give my PV to smokers is that they are apprehensive. This makes them drag on the atty very slowly... They give it a very weak pull which means that they are not supplying enough airflow to the coil, and that gives them a harsh and scratchy hit with very little vapor.

Ask her to draw harder... see what that does.
