Today we want to review another important vaping safety topic: Batteries!

While vaping has done wonders for helping people quit smoking, you also hear the occasional news report about vape explosions that result in injury or property damage. In almost all cases, these explosions were believed to be caused by battery-related issues.

We’re here to make sure you’re able to enjoy your vaping experience without worry. Read on for the top vape battery safety tips.

Vape Battery Safety Tip: Buy a Vape with Safety Features
One of the simplest ways to make sure you don’t get hurt with your vape is to buy one with built-in safety features. This is one time when it pays to seek out quality. Skip the bargain products and choose a high-quality vape or pod system.

Other safety features to look for include vent holes, over-charging protection, and firing button locks.

Once you’ve purchased your vape, you’ll want to make sure you follow these five additional safety tips:

Use the Right Batteries
Always read the manual that comes with your vape to make sure you're using the right batteries. Some are designed for sub-ohms while others are better for low-wattage vaping. Using the wrong ones is a recipe for disaster.

Never Use a Phone or Tablet Charger
When you’re charging your vape, never use anything other than the charger that came with it. If you have removable batteries, use a dedicated battery charger. Better yet, spend a few extra dollars and choose one with health monitoring and battery data.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Vape batteries are designed to deal with normal changes in temperature, but it’s not a good idea to test their limits. Avoid keeping your vape in the glove box of your car. If you live somewhere that temperatures get crazy, consider storing it in a small cooler when you’re not using it.

Don’t Let Your Vape Charge Unattended
It’s never a good idea to leave your vape plugged in when you’re not watching it. This is especially important when you’re sleeping.

Although it’s rare, charging malfunctions can occur. If you’re not around to take care of it, things can quickly go from inconvenience to a disaster.

Store Loose Batteries Safely
Loose batteries that come in contact with other metal items, like keys and pocket change, can short-circuit. This can lead to a vape explosion. If you’re going to carry extra batteries, keep them in a plastic case.

Happy Vaping!
