Hello,
I cant figure out why my vapes have been having a really burnt harsh hit. It's a brand new 2.5ohm coil that came with my Protank 2 and was working fine yesterday. I started using it today and it burns my throat to hit it, and has a terrible taste. It has been cleaned. Im wondering if a battery can give it bad taste i dont know if thats possible.

Sounds like a wicking problem, and I don't have enough experience to suggest how to fix it, although i'm sure you'll get some good advice on this thread once the experts start posting.

In the meantime, do you have another coil you can use?

What kind of e-liquid are you using?

Welcome to the forum btw.

First make sure you have enough juice in the tank. If so, it sounds like a wicking issue. For some reason, not enough juice is getting to the coil so you're vaping a dry coil - called a "dry hit". You may have to replace it or rebuild the head. You should be able to easily use 4.8 volts on a stock coil without a dry hit. If you replace it, save that head as you can always learn to rebuild it later.

No that's not correct. Go by this chart and you will never go wrong :) some juices vary for me within the "green area" I run all my mods in watts though...

Even the chart can be out since juices vary in consistency some flavours burn easier.

Best bet start off low and work your way up, finding the sweet spot.

Yes you are correct. The chart I use for a reference but every juice I vape, even from the same maker is different and I usually have to fine tune it but it's usually still within the range suggested. It has worked great for me starting off in the world if vw/vv devices. :)

Bad kanger quality (in last months)... I also experienced that with 1.5ohm and 2.5 ohm brand new coils.

Its a ego c twist 900mah. Im using it at 4.0 volts as i was before and it was working fine.

EDIT: It seems to be tasting bad at 3.2 volts as well.

Thats because the coil is badly wraped. One wrap is larger and it doesnt provide good contact to the silica and at that spot the wire gloves red and that gives you a burnt taste. Proper coil (filled with silica/cotton and soaked in liquid) should never glow red!

Just take the cap of the head and you will see the starting wrap is a little to big! Very bad for unexperienced users and for all that doesnt have wire/silica at home to recoil it.

I noticed the wraps being inconsistent in some of my coils when re wicking with cotton. Quite a few of them i didn't re wick because the coil looked as if it were touching the side of the head. Waiting on kanthal to arrive (should be in my mailbox when I get home:)) so I can recoil.

A buddy at work, how he knows/found out idk, but he "claims" kanger moved their factory over there and that's why the quality hasn't been as great. I'm sure it would have been somewhere here on ECF if that was the case. I'm mean this place is too full of info for it have not leaked out somewhere lol.

Yeah its interesting that there is no mentioning of bad authentic kanger coils but i am sure, they are bad. I am using them for 5 months now and the 1st ones in august 2013 were great, lasting from few weeks to a month or even more. Now i get burned vapor from new ones...

I guess there is a lot of "old" new coils in stock so they are good. New ones arent. :( Bad bad kangertech!!

I hope all the great advice that you received in this thread helped you to get rid of your problem. I love the construction of the ProTanks and they work great for a lot of flavors but I've never had any luck with the ProTanks and sweet vapes. I know a lot of people swear by them but I always got a burnt taste when vaping sweet flavors. I tried all the tricks and nothing worked. I was at my wits end when a fellow EFC vaper was nice enough to steer me toward the Evods. I never even use my ProTanks anymore. I also like the T3S. The T3S has a larger fill capacity than the Evods. If you continue to have the same problem you might consider the Evod or the T3S. Hope this helps.
