Vapers in the wild

So I went out tonight to celebrate my birthday... We went bowling and there was a couple at the counter setting up as we were turning in our balls. They both had their PVs in hand. I was so excited to see other vapers! It looked like they both were using 900mah eGos. The girl had a vivi and the guy was using a stardust.

I wanted to go up to them and say hey I vape too! But then I got scared because I thought maybe it would be weird... Like, it's not like I ever got excited about seeing other people smoking Camel Crush.

Do you approach other vapers you happen to cross paths with? Would it be weird if someone was to approach you?

The 2 times I was approached by a vaper in the wild it was at dinner and both were out of juice! Totally reminded me of the days of "bumming a smoke" so now I follow a modified code. If I have over 5 ml's, or am about to go home to my juice box, my juice is a needy vapers juice!

If it was a cig-a-like ecig, i wouldnt have done anything... But eGo or better (bigger) SAY HI!

How i see it:
Cig-a-like; Could just be some one new, just trying it. Dont want to scare them off
Ego or better: You are a vaper, you have a higher chance to be more social when it comes to it, research under your belt

Note: Nothing against the small ecig people (heck got one in my hand right now (not gas station kind)) but you have two types of people using them and its hard to tell who is who at a glance

I think what made it most exciting was the fact that I was with a group of friends I haven't seen since I started vaping. They kinda off handedly made fun of it which bummed me out a bit. I wanted to be like "look look! I'm not alone!" lol

If i saw the same person twice (or more) with a cig-a-like, i would say hi, maybe show off whatever im rocking at that point, give more education.

I agree - but I can be overly enthusiastic at times. If I were to run up to a stranger with my carto tank/Twist combo I might look armed.

Recently was down visiting family in Dec. and we all went to the local casino. I was shocked to see that for every one smoker I saw in there, there was 2 people vaping. Most of them were using the cig-a-like variety, but there were a few caring some eGo style.

I didn't see anyone with anything larger, and most of them probably wondered what it was that I was using.

When I go to the ones in my area, I'm usually the only one vaping.

Just a random thought to throw into the thread.

I always make it a point to say "hi" to vapers I run across "in the wild". New vapers--especially ones using cig-a-likes--often don't know there is more to e-cigs, and when someone like me can come along and show them an eGo or a big mod like a Silver Bullet or some big battery VV/VW mod, it can be a real eye-opener for them.

Plus, knowing that there are a LOT of us around will help in creating solidarity, and also gives us the opportunity to bring more into the "activist fold". A LOT of people using e-cigs have no idea that FDA and Big Pharma are trying to ban or severely regulate them. The more people we have who are "with us", the louder our collective voice will be when we are called on to comment on these coming laws and regulations.

Not every vaper is going to become an activist--even when you tell them what's going on behind the scenes with the FDA. But most of them will be more likely to be more "out" with their vaping if they know there are others out there just like them...

JoshM--there are some people out there that are so technologically illiterate, and such flaming hoplophobes that they would think an iPhone was a handgun if you walked up to them with it in your hand.

And some of them are wearing badges...

I got mean-mugged and followed by a cop who saw me vaping on a blue eGo-C type B one time, but it didn't bother me too much since I have dreds. That also is the reason I wouldn't walk up to someone puffing anything short of a box mod in the wild.

I always try to say hi to fellow vapers and talk to them about their devices, because I'm sure they are like me and have little to no one to talk to in person about it.

I have also gotten pulled over twice by the police to ask be about my ego to ask what I was doing. I think it's great when they do, so that they are more educated at least.
