Hey people. I'm Brandon and I'm from western NC in the "foothills". I am a smokeless tobacco user and trying to slow down. Been vaping with a Vision Spinner II and iClear30s and cheapy tanks from a local shop.

I just got a wild hair this week and decided to purchase a mech mod and rda.

Stumbled across this humble abode looking for info on Ohms/battery stuff.

Still seems I got a bit to read up on before I build or fire my setup. Anyways, any suggestions on threads for Ohms, batteries...good builds so on and so forth are much appreciated!

My purchase so far is a Nemesis Mod, LittleBoy RDA, 24g kanthol and 2 Vamped 3.7v 2300mah 40A hi-drain batteries. Like I said, wasn't sure on the batteries soooo may have messed up there...you guys tell me! Lol

See ya around the threads!

Me right now... Lol

Not sure about the vamped batteries. Most here tend to stick with or suggest Samsung 25r's, Sony VTC4's, LG-HE2/LG-HE4 and EFEST. The 25r's are my favorite and perform very well. You need to keep an eye on the limitations of your batteries. Most of the ones I mentioned have around a 20 continuous amp rating, but they tend to be listed as much higher (their pulse rating, usually around 35a). Keep your builds .3 ohms and above and you'll be fine with any of those batteries, building lower than that is for more experienced folks. Those vamped batteries you should probably do some research on to find their continuous amps so that you can adjust your coil builds appropriately.

If you've never built a coil, you need to spend some quality time on youtube. Search for building your first coil, building your first RDA, rebuildables, and the like for tutorials. Seeing it will be better than just reading about it.

Other things you'll need? An ohms meter or multimeter at least to check for shorts and to see the resistance of your coils (ohms) is a MUST, so that you can avoid any nasty mishaps. You'll also need some wicking material (organic cotton that you've boiled, 100% rayon cellucotton, or japanese organic cotton). You'll need something to wrap your coils on, anything from a screwdriver to a drill bit is a good place to start, or you can research "coil master" or "kuro koiler" on youtube and see some of the new coil wrapping gizmos that are available, they work well. Some tweezers help too, ceramic tipped are best but any old steel tweezers will do in a pinch (see youtube vids for their use).

You'll also eventually need a calculator to help you find out how many wraps/length of wire etc you'll want for the ohms/resistance you want. Here's a good one.

And welcome to ECF!

I've got alot of good materials tonight just reading around and watching vids. I've been looking at rda stuff since I started vaping but never this deep.

I assume anything lower than your suggested .3ohms is the sub ohm builds I ran across...I don't think those are what I ever intend on building.

I think I can handle the coil building, after all, the coiling isn't the resistance, the length is.

Anyways, I'll look into those batteries a little more like you said. I don't want a mini explosion in my pocket or possesion considering I have children who like to mess =/

Thanks for the warm welcome!

PS, I picked up the SteamEngine app earlier. Excellent app.

.3 is sub-ohm, but sub-ohm means anything below 1 ohm. So, .8, .7, .6, etc. Above .3 is safe with most of the currently popular batteries. .3 is where the batteries I mentioned will start to be over-taxed, so you should have more experience before going lower.

You can handle coil building! I'm sure of it, I have bad eyes and shaky hands and I get it done, so I'm certain you can.

Your batteries might be OK to use, I'm just speaking from ignorance, I have not had any experience with them nor have I researched them. Just know your batteries, know their limits, and learn ohm's law and how it relates to battery safety and coil building.

You're gonna love it!

Ha, ok. .3 is subohm and anything below 1ohm. Learnt something new. Thanks...some more studying on Ohms Law and I'm sure I'll get it. I get volts, resistance and amps but not sure how the watts play in. Guess I'm just trying to hard to understand or the fact I've been at this for 4.75 hours now. Lol I must rest.

There's plenty of time to learn before my things get here and may go pick up a ohm meter tomorrow.

Generally speaking, Spinners and Egos aren't suitable for use with RDA's, but that doesn't mean you absolutely can't. The Spinner 2 is likely only able to handle coils above 1.5 ohm resistance and below 3.0 ohm resistance. With 24 gauge wire, on a 2mm diameter (screwdriver or drill bit or whatever), you would need a whopping 22 wraps (211mm) to reach that minimum resistance. That would take a very long time to heat up, and be very weak.

I'm also not confident enough in my own knowledge to suggest trying your RDA on a spinner style battery, so I'll let others chime in on that.

Gotcha.

Here's some info on the batteries I purchased.

VAMPED 18650 2300MAH 40A BATTERY

40 AMP 18650 Battery is the newest and most powerful vape battery on the market right now from Vamped. If you are looking for the most powerful 18650 battery, then the Vamped 40 amp battery is a must have! The Vamped 18650 40 amp battery is 2300 mAh and packs a powerful punch pulse of 40 amps. A pulse rate is no longer than 60 seconds. The Vamped 40 amp battery has a maximum mAh of 2300 milliamps per hour because.
