IIRC, around March or April 2020 they urged the FDA to immediately ban the sale of all ecigs/vape, claiming nicotine contributes to COVID-19 in some negative manner.

Yet they never urged the FDA to ban cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, etc.

It went nowhere.

But they recently (this month?) again urged the FDA to implement a vape ban.

They are waging war and using the media to gain public support.

You can't get public support for a war unless you spread lies through the media. Media is the biggest, most powerful weapon in any modern war. And they are fully, well-versed in this tactic.

There is an old tradition in public health to lie for the purpose of getting people to do what public health people decide is best. Public health lied about face masks and freely admitted it. Everybody here knows they've been lying about vaping for years without shame. I follow the nicotine/covid story closely. The news about that comes from researchers. It's discussed by academics and the public. Vape companies are silent on the subject. Even if nic is protective the best choice for never smokers is probably going to be patches. Vaping probably the best choice for smokers.
