I'm posting this in the ask a vet section, because i'm really trying to avoid getting a bunch of random uninformed decisions. vaping is still new, and hard to be an "expert" in, and birds are the same.

What i want to know -definitively- is whether or not vaping would be safe in a room with birds.

I have two parakeets (or budgies depending on what part of the world you're from) and they are very delicate. Especially in a respiratory sense. All birds have a different lung system than we do. They breath faster, deeper, and instead of having lots of tiny air sacs like we do, which makes are lungs more resilient, they have big air sacs, so they can get more oxygen. They're also very susceptible to airborne toxins/poisons. Just yesterday on my budgie forum, someone killed ALL of their birds by plugging in a glade air freshener... You can't even smell a glade air freshener.

It's definitely a no-no to smoke around birds. I hope it's ok to use a PV, because i want to keep my birds healthy, but i'd also like to know for sure that if i decide to vape in the room, they won't suffer ANY negative consequences. I posted on a thread, and expressed various parts of my opinion on the subject, but i'm by no means an expert, but i did do some research. I'll try to post a link, so at least maybe someone can look it over and make sure i didn't misinform everybody. I didn't say whether it was ok or not, i just tried to provide information, so people can make their own informed decisions.

Thanks in advance, and i hope someone will be able to put this issue to rest for the bird/nicotine lovers out there.

my post is the last one on the first page, post #10. I added a little bit on the next page too.

Take a look at this:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...9160-analysis-electronic-cigarette-vapor.html

Understand that there are no long term studies and even this one is flawed but within it, it has some info that might be useful.

The percentages of nicotine and PG are NOT from exhalation but before inhalation. So the exhaled percentages would be much lower just like it is in second hand smoke vs. mainstream smoke - although of course with smoke is where you get the carcinogenic tars and carbon monoxides - not so with ecigs. The point being that the lungs absorb much of the content and replace it with mainly water and carbon dioxide.

That's 'general' - you could search that thread for 'birds'.
