I'm with the people that think someone wanting to lose weight should learn a bit about nutrition and start tracking what they eat and just eat less calories than they burn. Instead of eating 5 treats, eat 2 and some vegetables. People craving sweets, give fruit a try. And IMO, everyone able should lift...

By that logic everyone should be able to quit smoking cold turkey.

I guess if you equate stopping eating altogether with stopping smoking cold turkey.

I'm pretty sure what I have said equates more to vaping than cold turkey. Instead of smoking, vape. Instead of eating candy, eat fruit.

Yall guys are lucky vaping in no way curbs my appetite. Although I did manage to drop close to 100lbs with diet exercise just because hey started vaping to get healthy might as well be all healthy. Still slip up though but its ok. =) you just gotta find something that works and stick with it

Fantastic to hear of your successful weight loss! I, too, don't get reduced appetite by vaping. I don't need to cut the eating (I'm a good weight), I just need to eat the right stuff and move my ..... Vaping has opened my eyes to the desire to make an entire lifestyle and attitude adjustment about what goes in my body.

Also, vaping vs. smoking, I have regained the ability to do more than light lifting and walking. Those two things only go so far. I can jog for miles now, and I have the desire to train harder and the ability to physically do it (yay! Doctor's thumbs up--clean bill of health). Using vaping as a crutch to ward off food addictions is one step.

Taking it to the next level is, of course, the next GIANT hurdle. That's the difficult part--putting words and desire into action. I'm older, so I can't see myself twirling on a pole anytime soon (but, I suppose anything's possible, lol--you pole exerciser's are AWESOME! BTW), but just running (the whole way) in a 5K fun run is a major accomplishment I want to do.

Oh, and stop eating crap from the drive-up window (talking to myself). Baby steps. But lots of them, and as fast as possible to the goal!

Why do you think that vaping zero nic results in weight loss? I fail to see the connection.

Because you're putting something in your mouth, and it has the taste of food (particularly sweets). I dropped 10 Lbs in the first 3 months I was vaping.

It just distracted me from grabbing snacks.

I have a couple of questions. One of the reasons I started vaping was a non vape friend of mine was using zero nic flavors between meals to help her lose weight and it worked. I have not gained weight moving from smoking to vaping and generally can report that I don't desire candies or cookies as I used to.

i have students who have tried my juices and are interested in no nic versions for themselves and I am hesitant to promote this. As a general rule I don't think people should add addictions to their lives however if vaping can help them I don't want to put it down. I'm just not the authority on this.

And before any one gets upset anyone who has tried the juice has also tried a cigarette in their adult life and while they are non smokers they have all been known to be social smokers and were warned my juice contains nic and no one has started smoking or vaping because of it, lol. As I said the interest lies in the fact we knew someone way before I started vaping that used it as a dietary aid, much like sugar free candies or skinny cow chocolate.

i even have no nic or low nic hookahs for friends who social smoke now so that they don't find themselves going down that path. I've even been asked to pack them on party nights by friends who know I stock such products for myself and are grateful that they have a zero nic option instead of being the social smoker. I used to loan out cigs to my non smoker friends and now I loan them a hookah pen, everyone is healthier.

First, if that is you in your avatar, then you have no need to lose weight.
Second, what is it you teach (what age group)? If these are school aged students then that can raise some concern.
Finally, I don't think anyone should start a new addiction, but if vaping 0 nic can help with obesity then I say go for it.

I may not have read closely enough but, if I recall, you said the people were your students. If they are minors, its not a good idea to instruct them on anything health related. That is a parental job, not a teacher's. That said, I'm an x-smoker and a diabetic. I have recommended vaping to my non-smoker diabetic friends as its the only means of tasting foods they can't normally eat. When I first started vaping, I enjoyed cheese cake zero nic juice for instance and vaped away as the rest of the family ate their cheese cake during the holiday season. I did, initially, loose a bit of weight but after over a year vaping, that has leveled off but I don't vape for that purpose. If I did, weight loss would probably continue. When I recommend vaping, I instruct not to inhale. Inhaling is not necessary for anyone but especially not if vaping is being used for dietary purposes. Personally, I think vaping is much safer than consuming something that tastes like food but has no food whatever in it... just an arm-long list of chemicals most people can't even pronounce. Tasting vapor, IMHO, is much safer than swallowing a bunch of chemicals. For instance, before vaping, I used to eat Walden's chocolate sauce in which the caloric, fat and carbs counts were all zero. I would much rather vape chocolate than swallow that stuff ever again. And those chocolate diet products that have at least some food value contains sweeteners that... well, the bathroom gets a workout. That can't be good for anyone. Anyway, my two loooong cents.... don't recommend vaping to minors and if you're talking to an adult non-smoker instruct them on how to vape without inhaling and NEVER give them juice containing nicotine.

I believe she's talking about adult students in the fitness classes she teaches after reading her profile :)

Sorry I am so used to pole boards that I forget that not everyone knows I teach adults. I'm also child free so forget that anyone could mistake me for a real teacher, hahahaha. I teach pole dancing so everyone is an adult - I don't even like taking 18 year olds when they come in - mostly because of the maturity level.

My clientele is typically 25-50. My particular issues come from seeing people do a lot of insane things to stay competitive in this industry. Think dance/gymnastics for grown ups. I teach empowerment and self love and prefer to focus on what can be done naturally and organically as opposed to pushing or treating your body badly.

With that said when this topic came up I felt at a loss for answers and decided to come here for more information. I just simply can't see saying something works or doesn't based on limited experience when it involves taking/using things some one doesn't use currently for any reason. It's like when girls want to touch their foot to their head - yes this a thing some of my girls WANT - well I don't teach contortion so I'm not going to give advice as to how to proceed with doing this until I've consulted an authority on it.

I really appreciate the feedback both positive and negative and have something I can share now. Thank you!

With this info in mind. I would personally say that not every diet works for everyone and with zero nic there is next to no risk to give it a try. If it works, great and if not then "no harm, no foul". It doesn't hurt to try.
