I have been using a hv510 atty. I was having an issue with my 3v 900 batteries tripping with the joye 510.... The attys I bought from altsmoke lasted for 2 months, actually they are still working but have since switched to the hv510. I just started playing around vaping at 8.48-o volts with the sb, gheezzzz talk about a damn throat hit! The taste is very good and the vape is crazy, a little harsh ( I wouldn't recommend doing what I do! I have issues! )

It's funny how I hear about so many people blowing out their attys? I have never had an issue! anyways, just wanted to throw in my two cents...or 8.4 cents. lameeeeeeeeeeee I know

I think quality control and variations in manufacture are all over the board. I use my BB PT at 5v. I went through 4 or 5 510's (Joye, all from reputable vendors -- like AltSmoke :)) which lasted from a few days to 2 days each. The one I'm currently using (out of the same batch) has been working for over a 10 days. Go figure. Same juice, atty always on the verge of flooded, etc.

I'm not sure what the technical difficulty is in having a mod with a variable resistor. Heat dissapation? cost? ??? Seems that would be the ultimate solution. They you could just "dial-a-heat" depending on what atty you're using, what juice you're using, what mood you're in, whatever.

You didn't mention using cartos so it may not be an issue for you but for anyone else who comes across this thread wondering: for most people (not all mind you) cartos at 6v are no good - they taste way to harsh/dry/burnt

I was really surprised as I love them at 5v on my PT and my Prodigy v2 :(

I primarily use two vaping options, a 510 (reg or magnum) and cartos. I will mention that a carto can get burnt real quick if you're not careful. 6v does use juice quicker. I actually use nhaler's high volt juice in empty or blank cartos and cap them with cut down 901 tips. I top these cartos off every 30 min. or so. I don't like the carto to get below half full. The carto's don't seem to get as harsh if you keep them really wet. You really don't want a carto getting dry at 6v....

Standard cartos at V4L work good, but sometimes throat hit is too much. But I still wouldn't recommend it without juice....
