Vaping attempt #4, week 3

Hello all! This attempt is going much better than the others so far, but I still have some questions if y'all don't mind. I've got quite a few Joye 510s which I use with carts filled with 80-20 VG-PG liquid in a blue foam filler. I'm a little disappointed. I like the flavors, but they seem very weak, and I only taste them seconds after I blow the vapor out and I swish my tongue around in my mouth. Also, the vapor is cold. Is this how it's supposed to be?

I'm thinking of buying a Riva with cartos, but I wonder if it will make a significant difference or just a small difference. I'm not having any problems with battery life. I was also thinking of ordering the liquids in 50-50, but again, I'm unsure of how much of a difference it would make, and my husband will be furious if I order anything else! So, if I could only do one, should I buy new equipment or new liquid?

One more question and I swear I'll save the rest for a later post! I was planning on ordering the Riva from Liberty-Flights, but I need to know if it has the LED on the end. I can deal with the big battery, but I'm not ready to let go of the LED.

I've been lurking every now and then for a couple of years and this is my first time posting. Thanks in advance!

Hi there. Welcome.

Generally VG produces more vapor with less throat hit and less flavor, while PG will deliver more flavor and more throat hit. I personally had a bad experience with a 510 and carts, and am enjoying the 808 with cartos alot more.

Also the vapor when I take a drag I feel the warmth in my mouth a bit, but the exhaled vapor is cool.

Well the one I had was a very cheap model so I can't say it is true for all of them. With the one I had I had to pull so hard on it I felt like my lungs were going to pop to get a decent hit. The flavor tended to fade quickly so I was using 3 carts a day and it still wasnt enough to get me off of cigarettes.

Also the filling in the carts somehow got caught on the atomizer and burned causing a very nasty taste and ruining the cart.

I never noticed the warm inhale on this model either and the vapor and taste are not even half of what I get from my current PV with a carto.

The burning in your throat, is it gravelly on the exhale or is it the burn when you inhale? It also might take a little getting used to the vapor but for me that went away fairly quickly.

VG dulls flavor and TH. I use 80PG/20VG (the opposite of what you are using)

Cartridges are probably the most annoying way to vape. Use manual batteries and cartomizers (Boge are most popular but 510 can sue any 2.5 to 3 ohm 510-threaded cartomizers.

And if that doesn't work, get a stronger ecig. KR808D-1 is stronger. Manuals. smokelessimage (same as Bloogplanet and Halocigs G6) has a bit more charge and manuals are sealed better but allow max 5 second activation. Vapor4Life has a custom 10-13 second cutoff allowing plenty of time to press the button in 1-2 second early and still having time for a good drag. I do think the smokelessimage and Bloogplanet cartomizers are a bt nicer and vapor4Life has more flavors. Halocigs G6 cartomizers can also be used. I recommend the standard aka 78mm batteries for 120mm ecig.

Next step up after that is to fat batteries. The Riva 510 kits at Liberty-Flights are 3.7v (hotter than Ego and slim 510) and will vape 510's stuff hotter. They need their own charger and don't put their 2.2 ohm atomizers or charger on slim 510.

The burning (on exhale) is definitely getting better, and it's certainly preferable to the e-cigs I tried previously (which felt like nothing!). You do think it's the equipment, then? I'll have to look into the 808, though I was hoping to buy something that's compatible with what I've already bought.

Um... the filling isn't supposed to touch the atomizer? I might be doing this totally wrong...

The warmest vape I have gotten is from a Halo G6, it is a warm vape and Halo flavors taste great. I use a high Pg, low Vg mix when I do DIY. The G6 is even warmer than my mod surprisingly. So good luck finding your perfect PV :) bnrk

Thanks! It seems that as much as I'll looked into this, I still have a lot to learn.

Yes the filling of cartridge IS supposed to touch the metal mesh bridge of the atomizer. That is how the juice gets from the cartridge stuffing to the wick on the bridge and down to the atomizer coil.

But you are using a weak setup, suitable for beginner lights or ultralights smoker. Best with manual batteries (for a better hit) and cartomizers (for a more consistent vape) and I use 80PG/20Vg and 90PG/10Vg juices for good hit and good carto life. I still use 510 manuals - with cartomizers.

My hotter slim ecig with more hit is KR808D-1 (mostly Vapor4Life aka V4L manuals for the long drags and one SmokelessImage Volt manual which is same as Bloogplanet or Halocigs G6). I like the cartomizers from the last 3 more than those from V4L but my 2 main vapes are V4L WOW juices.

Above that are fat battery models which can be used with LR (low resistance, hotter) cartomizers and atomizers.

The Rivas don't have an LED on the the end. The LED is built into the button. I think Rivas are better PVs than the Joye 510 for several reasons. The battery holds its charge longer and it provides 3.7V rather than the 3.2V on the Joye 510. This will result in a hotter vape. With the Riva, you can also use low resistance atomizers/cartomizers that increase the amount of vapor and will enhance most flavors.

As others have said, PG increases throat hit and flavor, while VG will increase the vapor production. The right proportion of PG/VG varies with each individual. Some need more TH or flavor, others want plumes of vapor. In you case I would try a 50/50 ratio and work my way from there. If you desire more TH or flavor, increase the PG; more vapor, less TH, increase the VG. Also be aware that high VG liquids will clog atomizers/cartomizers quicker and will wick slower resulting in a burning taste.
